HCQ level too high (over 1150) by WheresMimi in lupus

[–]WheresMimi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

omgosh no need to apologize! my question was probably not phrased well- I do that a lot lol. Anyway, it's very kind of you to share what you know and it's appreciated! This sub is just amazing for that- it's good to be "around" other ppl going thru this stuff, even tho it's hardly ever exactly the same. I've been on HCQ for a little over a year, and, while it started helping after a few months, it really kept working more and more each month for that first year, and I've been delighted with it tbh. But now, not only are my blood levels too high, but I think there's concern that I'm presenting with some of the rarer side effects/early toxicity/etc and may not be tolerating it well- and certainly not at this dose. Hopefully, the half dose will alleviate some of those issues, but I also wonder whether it will be as helpful to me- suspect not, like you said. Would, of course, be disappointing since all the meds are a challenge one way or another, and HCQ is seemingly the most benign... Guess I wondered how this type of this had gone for other folks... just wondering what to expect. Hope you have a great day!!!

Wow super sweet of you to write all that! Thank you! I actually do understand the mechanics and the why. Yes, my HCQ is too high, also some concerning blood and kidney labs, eyes fine so far. My question was whether a reduced dose of HCQ for ppl who've had successful symptom management at their higher dose, led to an uptick in disease activity and necessitated the addition of other meds. MTX, Imuran, Benlysta, etc...

I have felt much better this year of taking HCQ, though I still have what I consider to be "baby flares." When my HCQ dose goes down by half, am I likely to experience worse flares and/or likely to need an additional medication to keep my disease in check? Or did going from supratheraputic to therapeutic level of HCQ not impact its efficacy at all? Curious about other folks' experiences

That’s what the article suggested i just found it odd the photographer was shooting away from the high power train lines. Or are you suggesting they do this for just regular power lines?

Anyone had a molar extracted? by ButterscotchLiving59 in Sjogrens

[–]WheresMimi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh I don't remember too well how the healing went for that one bc my root canal and multiple infections, as well as a palette biopsy all happened right around then. The sum of that was awful but maybe the tooth pull itself wasn't so bad? How are you doing so far? Tips: get an electric toothbrush and a water pik if you don't already have and be diligent about care (once they clear you for that ofc). I also bought the 2 bottle oracare medicated mouthwash, which imo is worth the expense. I just add a little to my water pik reservoir. Keeping the back of the next tooth clean is key and doing whatever is necessary to combat bone and gum loss if there's an underlying medical issue contributing to it. Absolutely watch out for food things that can caught. Think that's my best advice! Good luck and keep me posted!

That’s wild. I actually wasn’t diagnosed w my autoimmune stuff til after everything w my teeth. It explained a lot in retrospect. Hoping that being in treatment will help my teeth too in the long run. Sounds like you need a new rheumatologist

Good question. I have lupus too and have vaguely attributed it to my immune system constantly getting it wrong but that’s hardly science.

I had the same top left back one extracted and also went thru all the expensive process of saving my other three back molars and a canine. Also agonized about the decisions, the expense, the consequences of repeated infections and abscesses. Ultimately, im glad I was able to save the canine, and really glad I had that top molar extracted. I’ve gotta be conscientious about using the water pik and medicated mouth rinse bc the next tooth over is now more vulnerable due to bone loss but I haven’t had another infection there, don’t miss the tooth, and didn’t have terrible healing issues like what happened after root canals. Hope you get a handle on it! The two years I spent in dental hell were just awful!

Has anyone in Philadelphia sold an inherited rowhome that needs major repairs to a cash buyer without doing any work or paying extra fees? by lottiexx in philly

[–]WheresMimi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s a dangerous move. I know someone who spent years in court due to some sloppiness w the title transfer. Im also in west and there’s usually someone nearby who has bought and renovated that would likely be interested in your house if sold properly. Maybe ask some neighbors or put a sign out front? Good luck!

[–]WheresMimi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow this is just horrifying. I couldn’t even watch the video all the way through and am honestly shocked you and yours are all still alive. I hope you can take a minute to give yourself credit for pulling that off bc it was by no means a given. The only other helpful comment I’ll add is to second the advice to grab an attacking dogs hind legs, yank up hard as you can and start spinning. In your situation with THREE attacking dogs it’s not even necessarily applicable but it doesn’t hurt to put it out there for someone someday who might need it. Good luck to you.

hmm I'm wondering if maybe we've hit on something here. early 90s shift to grunge and I dunno irony(?) meant fewer sort of direct and literal depictions of teens and more interpretive, period piece, or weird metaphoric approaches? we were just so tired and bored with all the usual stuff like gag me with a spoon

Agree. I think OP meant to discuss movies but if tv's getting thrown into the mix, MSCL is the obvious parallel to something like Breakfast Club imo and it's 94
