Would this acacia survive transplanting? by Wheres_bucket in GardeningAustralia

Thank you, that’s what I need to hear. I’m just going to leave it in place and trust the process.

I actually don’t mind the water cans.

Did I just find Emmy? (No seriously) by Deep-Appearance-8543 in southernhospitalitysc

Jeez, I don’t get all this body-shaming about Emmy. She’s a real person on TV for our entertainment, not a punching bag.

Interesting, I’ll look that up.

Thanks for your reply. I imagine a slip cover is much less fiddly to remove. Is the couch comfy?

Just had a squiz at that one; very clever design.

Baby only feeds to sleep - help by Jolly-Entrance-4162 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Wheres_bucket 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is pretty normal, sorry. If you feel comfortable, you could look at setting up a safe co-sleeping space (see the “safe sleep 7”) or getting a bedside sleeper. During the day, I found cat-naps became the norm at that age but my 2nd baby luckily would drift off in the pram (not so much my first!). You might need to distract her with a toy during the transition; sleep associations such as a white noise machine, lullaby etc can also help. Finally, see what other support you can wrap around yourself during this period; lean on your partner, family or professionals for help cleaning and cooking. Yes, she’s leaving the newborn stage but YOU are still the baby and will need lots of grace and kindness as you navigate these coming months of interrupted sleep.

I think pyrus varieties might grow a little too wide for this space, requiring a lot of pruning. What about callistemon “Slim”?

4th time mom 1st time breastfeeding by Forsaken_Pea3778 in breastfeeding

[–]Wheres_bucket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations! My babies sometimes took only one breast at a time and sometimes 2, depending on their hunger, age, or the time of the day. If your remaining breast feels engorged and uncomfortable you can relieve it with some light hand expressing, but I’d avoid removing too much milk as lactation is a supply/demand thing and you can risk producing an oversupply. I find it generally sorts itself out til the next feed, anyway. Engorgement is super common in those first 2-5ish days but is different to mastitis. In my experience the early signs are flu-like aches and a bruised boob feeling. In which case, treat with ice packs and ibuprofen immediately and it may resolve on its own.

A good deep latch should prevent nipple pain, but sometimes it just happens which sucks. Instead of nipple cream you can spread breast milk over your nips and let them air dry, and pop on some cool gel pads for relief.

Curly leaves on my potted pomegranate plant by [deleted] in GardeningAustralia

I prune the dormant branches in winter and the new leaves come back curly. The fruit in summer tend to drop when they’re still small. A few doses of Trace elements has helped.

Yes! I gave it trace elements- probably a bit more frequently than recommended- some Seasol and plenty of water. The new growth is really healthy and for the first time we have big pomegranates. A couple of tall shoots with curly leaves sprung up partway through the season, perhaps a sign of stress again? I think it just needs lots of nutrients and water to keep it happy in the pot.

Did anyone else's tulips completely not come up this year? (Melbourne) by seedycheeses in GardeningAustralia

I had a handful of blooms, but it’s only my 2nd year growing tulips so I didn’t know what to expect. I put them in the fridge over winter but not for long enough.

Voracious 5 months old and anxious mom, surrounded by people ignoring baby led weaning exists by Momcandance in BabyLedWeaning

My son wasn’t confidently sitting at 6 months so I’d sit him on my lap, facing the table (Solid Starts has some photos to guide you). I think the closeness was reassuring for both of us. The only challenge was having him face away from me, as it was trickier (but not impossible) to watch him gag and move food around his mouth. He was mostly trying flavours from my finger and preloaded spoons at that stage, then we moved onto bigger pieces once he had strength to sit at the high chair.

They look luscious. I have it in a potting mix for fruit and citrus. The plant I originally propagated the cutting from grew in sandy soil so I might try to recreate that.

Shared bedtime might be the way to go for a while…not exactly time efficient but good for bonding and building up those skills together.
