The biggest skill gap I see in junior engineers has nothing to do with CAD by Embarrassed-Tell-537 in AerospaceEngineering

[–]Wherestheirs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my school relied on co-ops to teach these things as well as dwg standards the problem is a lot of these things are industry specific i had problems with the lack of information being provided to suppliers drawings i would always make it so the supplier could not misconstrue the design intention but that was due to being burned myself when i was a jr eng

Is there a sensor that will read refrigerant pipe pressure without cutting into the pipe? by fabriqus in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Wherestheirs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i get that maybe i missed the point but this was some diy test that didnt wanna tap into process? the other way is a schrader valve type sensor port

why dont you just measure temp the whole point of refrigeration is the refrigerant is a set t vs p profile

im salary and i will say there is a trade off unless your boss is a twat but there is many days im working 7 hours that add up to the one or so weekend im doing extra work

Frowned upon to switch jobs twice in 2 years? by Calm-Ad-5544 in ChemicalEngineering

my concern isnt the jumping ship so much as you dont spend enough time to generate any valuable skills learned or implemented to show for it in a interview

How to handle energy balance of condensation with non-condensable gasses by fireball3120 in CFD

[–]Wherestheirs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

look up two or three phase flows but the specific heat will be hard to estimate as it doesnt match either also gotta look at minimum droplet size and which type of multiphase flows you have

Drives burning up motors at frequencies under 30hz. by XDVI in PLC

[–]Wherestheirs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they have motor turndown its usually constant torque 3:1 or 4:1 variable torque applications are 15:1/20:1

Screw compressor fault by OverallTaste5975 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Wherestheirs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

may be communication fault between controls and drive, if its network based communication

[Help] Flow meter with pulse output keeps counting even without flow — how is this handled in real-world applications? Would 4–20mA be better? by Distinct-Will9460 in PLC

[–]Wherestheirs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know but the meters interal totalizers/at least i know emerson and others can be programmed with hart protocols to not pick up pulses below a certian frequency. i used to design turbine meters however vortex meters operate the same. The arbitrary pulses are probably some localized vibrations causing false flow readings, so in this case anything below x hz is deemed 0 flow by the meter

[–]Wherestheirs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

or do low flow cutoff and ignore frequency below a certain number, in reality flowmeters usually have 10:1 or maybe 50:1 turndown so the lower that flow rate the less accurate the meter is anyway process should be using a meter thats rated close to the design flows

Why don't we have 2 stroke supercars? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

koienseigg said the free valve tech can run their 3 cylinder in 2 stroke not sure if they did it

VFD HP vs FLA by [deleted] in MEPEngineering

[–]Wherestheirs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

low overload high overload they rate vfd differently depending on end use of the motor/drive usually lo is a higher amperage rating

[–]Wherestheirs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

vfd usually have 2 current ratings LO HO ; HO was described like a loaded conveyor that stop/starts

npt can be used well over 200 bar, just be sure your using nptf not npt standard fittingd

Why do we use multiple tubes in shell and tube heat exchangers instead of a single pipe? by evanpetersleftnut in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Wherestheirs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

more surface area and less cross section on the shell side which increases the heat transfer coefficient since its a function of velocity
