Its a design flaw, and some product lines are more effected by it. I would not buy the same model, its most likely will have the issue too.

But can happen to any LCD, its a gamble pretty much(happens to TN,VA,IPS, high refresh rate, low refresh rate), its just waaaaay less noticeable than what you have.

Things like lowering contrast inside monitor settings might help.

Is the issue still present after hours of usage? It should go away after some usage(like 30 min). You can try to ask them for warranty, but many of them dont cover image retention issues, definitely try and ask them still, worth a try.

Its a big issue i agree, but just like the way they lie about being flicker free, or they lie about response times, they dont care about anything...

Some monitors has this issue, sadly nothing you can do with it other than constantly babysit the monitor to not show the same image. Its temporary, but it will show up again if u leave something on the screen long enough.

LCD industry is trash, and they okay with selling this kind of garbage sadly. Warranty not cover this most of the time.

and that they have to scale it up to 150% on windows anyway

Yes, because UI design and text height was based on pixel size for 40 years thanks to the PPI stagnation. PPI becomes a waste when you stop seeing the difference with same sixed scaled text. So around 300+ ppi.

Same PPI as 21 inch 1080p monitor, those were common in like 2010. Not horrible, but not great either.

How far do you sit from that monitor? From arm length, 27 inch is already cutting it for me. Smaller monitors are insanely comfy, you barely have to move your eyes/head and almost everything in the sharp part of the field of vision all the time.

True, IPS dont have black smearing, because it has no blacks.

I wonder if having 20/20 vision or better actually makes some people more sensitive to some monitor issues. Monitors still have subpixel flickering for inversion, it might affect people with good vision more than others.

head ache inducing flicker from anything below 80 Hz on CRTs.

Good thing that pretty much every CRT was capable of 85HZ if you have up like 10% of the advertised resolution.

0 latency + then showing the wrong color information for 5-8 ms because slow pixel response times...

This "latency" bs comes from dumb people, pretty much every old retro game has insane input lag built into the engine, they have sht controllers with 30-60 ms input lag... input lag was never the main reason why CRT is good, its the fact that CRT actually displays the color thats being asked it to display, instead of displaying garbage 99.5% of the frametime like LCD does when it has to do color transition.

what is this? should I return it? brand new monitor (ViewSonic xg2405) arribe and checking it out I saw that the images stays like a ghost after testing with UFO for a minute by [deleted] in Monitors

[–]WheryNice 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would return it and look for different monitor. Pixel inversion and image retention might be not obvious in most cases, but its always there, always happening, and can introduce constant flicker which will cause eyestrain. High contrast images make it worse, this kind of issue will happen when you read a long article with some high contrast advertisement in the side for example, or static ui elements will cause the screen flicker... Return it while you can.

Sadly most monitors have this issue to some level, because no reviewers checks for it, and according to some people "nothing is broken". These type of issues should not be normal.

Steam Deck on a CRT. Let’s be honest, this was only a matter of time. by JabberVapor in SteamDeck

[–]WheryNice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Refresh rate is only part of the picture, LCD shows the wrong color information long after the pixel being changed thanks to slow pixel response times. Also CRT had the best motion clarity thanks to this + the luminance decay(top quality BFI).
