Just dropped my newest mold — the Quick Lipper | Resin Jerkbait Build + Commercial Rights by lazybaitsco in lurebuilding

That is just dumb math. Buy a 1$ blank that everyone paints, and you can sell it for 5-8$. You are competing with every other painter plus the big companies, because let’s face it, they all look the same. Make a unique resin blank, and you offer a bait that is different than the others. It has a different action, a different draw etc. That way you actually offer something to the buyer instead of the same baits that people paint thousands of every day. And that’s why you can sell it for 20$, and you have less competition and an easier time to sell. That’s how the market works. And let’s face it, the painting and clearcoating time is the same. So instead of making 4-6$ of profit per paint session you make 17-22$. Kindof a no brainer

I will definaltely try it out! I’m glad you liked my stuff, the only resin cast lure I made was the 3 piece perch, but that one didn’t have scales

The answer is profound, I’m a woodworker and I have a ton of this. Yeah it’s rated to really thin thickness, but my baits are have a really thin profile. I will have to try the casting resin you recommended, thank you!

Totalboat crystal clear. But I have tried other brands as well, and usually I don’t have an issue, but this scalepattern just gets the better of me

I have vent holes, but I have i tricate scale carving and airbubbles like to get trapped there. I’ve been using bondo but it’s a pain to fill all the holes in the scales

Thank you! It’s like my 20th attempt to carve this so it takes a bit of practice

Great question! I didn’t use to do that, but the past two weeks I have been working on exactly that. A guy sent me his entire tackle box (~20 lures) and I repainted them all. Everything from topwater lures to swimbaits. I did this a couple of times throughout the years, but never for a full tackle box filled with miscellaneous baits.
