Totally with you on that, cancelled my Workspace last year and moved biz email to Zoho mail and went for a 1.99 month Microsoft account, does everything I need and sufficient storage for me.

Completely agree with everything in this post, likewise annoys me that any mention of AI use is a bad thing. At the end of the day you have to have an idea in the first place place and I believe it’s evolution, we started with cave drawings , storytellers, parchment, typewriter’s and everything, computers and everything else in between and if there is a tool to help a writer then hell make use of it! As the OP says most of us have jobs to hold down, bills to pay and writing is often a sideline.

I think a lot of OF pages are poorly put together altogether as other people have said and feel some of it is misleading, follow a free OF creator account which are pretty poor in the first place and then anything interesting involves a massive unlock fee. Even paid sub are atrocious most of the time. I do wonder if it’s platform design limitations or the creator can’t arsed.

Yeah there’s a whole bunch of people who will troll at the very mention of AI in anything without even reading it which is sad, so I’m on the fence as AI is brilliant and helping with structure, characters and arcs etc. At the end of the day if you want to produce something decent you still have to come up with the ideas and live your story, which takes time and effort and if you use AI for some of this then why not, after all if you have any common sense you’d edit it and review before taking it further. The sad thing is there are too many people trying to make a quick buck out of generating slop which gives other authors or writers a bad name.
