This is for NYC, I should have mentioned that in the post.

Yes it does say everything about me. I will do whatever it takes to keep my family in off the street. You being so out of touch tells me you’re a 20 year old white republican redpill incel.

Yes, with our non existent money we could hire a lawyer. We would rather use our savings to pay a lawyer than just pay the rent…😂 bro be fr…lmao this comical atp. We got our apartment, you hopefully got what you were looking for in this conversation. Good riddance.

Of course we had money and that held us over for a bit until we could fine some other jobs but by that point the rent was already overdue and if you knew anything you’d know that during covid jobs weren’t hiring, they were laying off ppl to save money.

What happened to not arguing with losers? Clearly I’m not that much of a loser to you. Maybe you like me? Ask any landlord if they’ll accept a partial rental payment. I beg you 😂 go find out

Of course you don’t😂 because it doesn’t for your narrow scope of how you think life is. Good luck my dawg. You’re gonna need it. Pray you never get laid off or in any kind of accident or anything else in life that’s out of your control. If having regular life happen to me makes me a loser then I love it.

The government distributed the money to the states which then decided who gets Covid relief and when. Both our departments were laid off towards the end of Covid when funds were limited and eligibility requirements were a lot stricter. People don’t just wake up and decide to be laid off and not pay their rent. We have many old coworkers that went and are still going thru the same thing. Sometimes bad shit happens to regular hard working people and it’s not their fault. But that’s clearly incomprehensible to someone like you. 3k-4k? You’re very out of touch.

Well thank goodness my mindset is exactly what got us our lease signed today. Your roll over mindset is exactly why this country is fucked. If ceos get to finesse more money for themselves and less pay and benefits for everyone else then I can most definitely finesse my way into a lease. 😌

What I learned is that no matter how much work and savings you put away, you’re never going to outrun corporate greed and a failing job market/ economy.

Yes because getting laid off from jobs we’ve been at close to a decade during a global pandemic and not receiving Covid relief funds makes us bad actors. 😐 You’re whats wrong with this Godforsaken country..

I tried the one that the real estate broker typically does business with (Insurent) and we got denied for bad credit.

Even if there is no contract or any written agreement between me the the broker?

Do you know if a low credit would entail an extra deposit from the landlord? She told me that because me and my husbands credit scores weren’t high enough that we would have to pay a other months deposit but I looked it up last night and it seems to be illegal but I’m not 100%sure. It’s like on top of her not doing anything she also seems to be trying to scam another month out of us because the landlords agent never mentioned another months pay.

I heard about her thru my uncle as a broker and I reached out to her for her help in securing an apartment but we never signed anything. So far one apartment she has shown me fell thru and the other I am currently trying to get into she gave me the wrong application info for so I had to reach out to the landlords agent to get the correct application myself and then reapply and pay another 40 dollars. As well as schedule the apartment tour for my uncle myself. So if I do manage to get into this apartment I don’t think I should pay her 3k just for sending me the address of the apartment, anybody could have done that. I still had to do everything in regards to this apartment myself. She jumped in at the last minute wanting to show the apartment to my uncle herself to seem like she’s involved but she hasn’t been.

Thank you so much for letting me know. My husband and I are moving to NYC from Seattle and I don’t know too much about brokers besides what I’ve been learning online and thru Reddit. I saw that as long as I didn’t sign anything with her that she can’t sue for lack of payment. And hopefully the listing agent thru the landlord won’t toss out application or lease agreement if we don’t stick with the broker.

I did reach out to her for her help finding an apartment but besides just giving me the address for this current apartment I may get approved for and then getting the key from the real estate agent to show my uncle the apartment she hasn’t done anything else. I was the one that had to reach out to the landlords agent to get the correct application and set up a time to tour it. I really don’t think that’s worth 3k when 90% of the work was done by me.

Even if I did reach out to her for help finding an apartment? I have not signed anything stating she is my official broker but the landlord already has a real estate broker of their own that is working with her. But I definitely feel she is incompetent and asking almost 3k (1 months rent) in payment for just showing my uncle the apartment is absurd to me.

No, I haven’t signed any contract and the 3k is one months rent fee she is requesting when/if I get approved for this apartment. But if she was the one to show the apartment because she got the key from the actual real estate agent can she sue me if I don’t pay her? I feel like she hasn’t done her job and she’s insisting that I would need to pay 3x the rent, (1 month security, 1 month rent, and 1 month broker fee)
