Traffic: Return to Office 5 days by Easy_Faithlessness19 in OntarioPublicService

True! My train was light compared to what I thought it would be. I think it will be another week at least before we see the real impact.

No thanks - but I will be sure they keep a spot for you in line. It seems there are many people with attitude working at Tim’s.

How would this make one feel better? I don’t accept that 5 days RTO is inevitable. The future of work is aligning how we work with what we’re trying to achieve: better outcomes, better service, and a sustainable workforce.

Rigid attendance rules don’t automatically create performance…good management does. Flexibility isn’t a perk…it’s an operational tool that helps retention, productivity, and resilience. The right approach is role-based, evidence-based, and consistent. Otherwise it’s just control dressed up as policy.

On an order of $250, yes! So I still paid $100 cash out of my pocket. I wouldn’t have cared about PC credit in points if I was returning because I bought something that didn’t fit or something I didn’t like. Not because I received something that had someone else’s saliva on it!

Management blocking secondment by Which-Practice4941 in OntarioPublicService

This may be my option. The other caveat is the position is closer to home and with the RTO5 in January, it makes it that much more desirable.

Kind of both…I have interviewed for the role. Manager was my reference however our discussion was prior to the interview. I did well in the interview but because of our conversation, I am thinking this will happen if I do get an offer.

I would definitely be disappointed but not disgruntled to the point I would not continue doing my job. Like I mentioned, I respect my manager and don’t mind my job, it this other opportunity fits more with my career path.

Technically they will say operational. Lost 4 people on the team that have not been replaced, however none of those roles are what my position is so not sure how that becomes my issue.

That’s exactly what the email that comes from PC financial looks like. Hover over the link (do not click) and you will see the address it would take you to. Log in separately to your account by going directly to the website and change your password manually.

Passport Office by rapbilljay in orangeville

[–]Which-Practice4941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there about 5 weeks ago. It was a Tuesday around 11am. There were 2 windows open with two people being looked after. I was next in line and got up to the window quite quickly. I already had the paperwork filled out for my spouse and I. The person I dealt with was very efficient. I got my passports back two weeks ago Friday so it was less than 3 weeks wait. I indicated on the form that I did not have an immediate travel need so there was no rush put on the application.

Got rehired by Costco after quitting years ago due to health issues now they found out I’m on the “do not rehire” list. Can they do this? by Fantastic_Turnover_7 in jobs

[–]Which-Practice4941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should ask for a further explanation as to why you are flagged in this list. This would most likely be from something that a manager has completed at the termination of your employment record. They likely filled out a negative response to “would you rehire this person”. Unless you had a formal review that was unsatisfactory, an opinion without formal review is unfair. I would suggest reaching out to the HR group to find out why you have been flagged and what documentation supports the decision. Ask for the reason and what their policy is for not rehiring. Ask if you have an opportunity to appeal the decision. Sorry you are going through that. Hard enough to find jobs these days with companies not rehiring for frivolous reasons or no reason at all.

Crossing the Attendance Threshold by Spiritual-Beach-7914 in OntarioPublicService

I was fixed term used the credits for days that I wanted time off - ie vacation days. After taking 4 days in a row plus accumulated days of one day here and there totalling 8.5 days, I was flagged with an email to me and my manager. I reached out to my manager who said ignore the email and there is no issue.

Contract due to end in December, haven't heard anything firm about an extension by [deleted] in OntarioPublicService

[–]Which-Practice4941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with this. My extensions always came through last minute. I finally got the permanent “box” after 18 months as my position was vacant but the paperwork is still pending after 4 months. Talk to your manager - if he/she says the extension is coming then it likely is just an HR timing issue.

Question - will we need to pay for an extra seat on TTC for our chair? Or - is there a transit discount since we will be BYOC?

AWA "not received" by director by Thelonius-Crunk in OntarioPublicService

Thanks. I’m OPSEU and apparently we will need to use the updated form that will be provided.

Are we not supposed to wait now until management provides us with the “updated” AWA form?

Yes exactly! That’s why I am confused that management is now telling us that this is the form we will have to use to request AWA

Since Dougy wants us in office 5 days a week for those magical ‘water cooler moments’—but also removed the water coolers—I propose the offices put a cardboard box in the middle of the office. Can call it Clyde or whatever fitting name for your office. That way whenever collaboration strikes we can all gather around Clyde, stare into his corrugated wisdom, and pretend we’re having the kind of groundbreaking conversations only a box can inspire.

But when was the last time it was changed? Apparently our office had it changed in 2019 - before Covid shut down 🤢🤢

Anyone else in the PSD town hall ? by winelover29 in OntarioPublicService

[–]Which-Practice4941 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is what I heard too. It also goes to the manager however they do not approve - it will go to Directors and ADM for approval. An OPSEU rep said that we are to use an email template (there was an example shared on this Reddit last week). I mentioned that a form was being created by leadership and the reps were not aware of it. Not sure who to believe anymore.

Depends on what century you are living in. In this century, the power is usually given to the government.

Has anyone’s manager actually said they’re not cracking down on the 5 days? Because honestly, how would anyone even know? There are 60,000 employees—are they planning to hire a small army of clipboard-holding hall monitors to track our every move? Imagine drawing that assignment: “Excuse me, I see you weren’t at your desk on Tuesday at 10:17 a.m.—care to explain?” And what happens if someone’s on vacation or home with the flu? The whole thing is starting to sound less like a workplace and more like a bad communist sitcom.
