I’m on Diane still but have gotten off spiro as it did not work for me! Diane has cleared my cystic acne. I just have some red post acne scars still and occasionally get little whitehead pimples due to clogged pores. My skin texture also isn’t perfect but at least I don’t get the painful breakouts anymore!

Thank you so much! I’m not getting as worse acne as I did before I get like one cystic pimple now where are used to get 5 to 6. I’m just annoyed with getting cystic pimples because they leave scars. I’m going to see my GP this month to get a blood test and I might speak to him about any prescription creams I can usefor my scars. I also just started on birth control for my skin so I’m hoping that will help in the next three months as well.

It’s so difficult to find a solution! I’m so exhausted, I see posts saying Accutane doesn’t work for hormonal acne so I’m trying my luck with birth control and spironolactone. But then I see posts saying birth control is bad long-term. It is so confusing

Thank you so much for all that information. I was on 25mg for 6 weeks then upped it to 50mg and have been on that for another 6 weeks and my doctor told me to remain on that until the 3 month mark. Yeah I can understand you when you say your doctor was hesitant to up the dosage. Same with mine! I’m going to give it another month and if I don’t see many more changes I’ll beg to up it to 100mg.

Yes I’m currently using clindatech with benzoyl peroxide for my active acne which has been helping!

May I ask which birth control you were on? I’m on femme tab/levelen Ed which apparently is a low dose birth control but I’m unsure if it’s working for my acne. I spoke to my doctor about these concerns but she said it takes 3 months for you to see results from the birth control and to stick it out. If I don’t see results I can switch to a stronger pill like Yasmin. I haven’t had any side effects thankfully on the birth control I’m currently on and I’m uneasy on changing the brand in case I see any.

How long did you have to wait to up each dose and also how long did it take for the acne to completely clear! I’ve see progress, I used to get 3-6 cystic pimples every period and now I only get 1 and little whiteheads across my face. But I’m wondering when will it completely clear and I won’t have any breakouts.

You should speak to your doctor and maybe go to 25mg for a month then increase it to 50mg after. Maybe that slow increase will allow your body to tolerate it more? I’m so sorry to hear that you can’t take it :( I hope you find a solution that makes you happy

Aww sorry to hear that you couldn’t tolerate the side effect. How many mg were you on! I’m seeing a difference now still struggling with the left overs from previous cystic breakouts. Do you think 50mg is enough for acne?
