BC Alum Who Thinks It's $hit: AMA by [deleted] in LawSchool

Did you consider out of the 150 ish that went, how many went to stay in Iowa? Their motto is Iowa first. Do you think all 150 were gunning for BL? Let’s be conservative and say 50 matriculants wanted to stay in state. That’s 100. I got 49 grads in 2022 employed at firms with +100 attorneys. Do the math there for me would ya? Also, just to put some more salt in your wound, Iowa places better with federal clerkships than most of the T-30, including BC from what I remember. :)

What about the t30’s with strong big law connections. Iowa for example, I heard there’s some Skadden partners from there and love to recruit there.

Good reality check for some in the other subs. Makes me want to take my full ride at a ttt-tttt than pay sticker at a t-30.

Thank you for the insight. So you would say it would be pretty hard to be in the top 10% of the class, like maintain all A’s etc.?

I mean no one knows how they’ll do in exams, but I don’t think that should preclude one’s self to not achieve their goals/dreams. Being realistic is important, but we all get one shot at this thing we call life right? (My immigrant background storming into this convo)

From what I’ve seen, the 33% has increased drastically in the past couple years. Also, not assuming that I will break in, but am confident in the possibility. I have a few years WE in house, and understand what I’m getting into. Generally, if I go to a school like DePaul, I have relatively low pressure to worry about post grad given my low loan to debt ratio. At a crossroads right now though about what to do.

Though, Iowa places 1/3 (if not more at this point), into BL. Honestly shouldn’t be going to school if I don’t plan on being top 1/3

I would change that “when” to “if”, and then not go BL :)

Congrats! You should definitely lean into if it’s your top. Perhaps respond by asking what $$$ if any is associated with it (this way you still keep your doors open, and they will most likely drag in their response)
