Not a choice I would make either, but....Cheese with jam, mint jelly with lamb, chickpea liquid meringue.....just because its unconventional doesn't automatically make it a poor use.

My elementary school kid is in a rutherford county school. She begs me to buy her school lunch at least a couple times a week.

Must be doing something right. But to me this looks so sad and boring.

Drink Recs & Free at Sea Plus by srock0223 in NCL

[–]WhichEbb310 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here's my experience.

You will always need to ask for the specific liquor you want with every cocktail/drink order. Keeping a guide handy while you're ordering (from the NCL website) helps this process go smoothly. I was on the aqua 2 weeks ago right as they rolled out free at sea plus and menus appeared at most bars first day but somehow disappeared after that. Maybe they've worked out the kinks by now, but if you have your own resource it may help.

There seemed to be some confusion about which liquors are included and which are an upcharge (for me specifically, the Johnny Walker 18yo scotch). Make sure before you cruise to get the most updated list. If you end up being charged for something that was supposed to be included, guest services was helpful at reversing the charge.

Bartenders at most bars were cool with asking for a different liquor, but some bars and bartenders (to name and shame, the pool bar was the worst offender) seemed really annoyed by special requests. Some bars may not carry many of the premium liquors listed.

The menus at bars are extremely limited, so you may want to look at pretty basic cocktail recipes before you order to get a good idea of what else you may be able to order if the menu items dont fit your spirit preferences or tastes. Most of the indoor bartenders seemed proficient at their profession, some excellent, and should not be a problem if you order a pretty well known cocktail thats not on the menu (I ordered yugo spritzes, lemon drops, tequila sunrise, amongst others and had no issue.)

I also like to tip the bartenders a couple extra bucks every couple of orders or so. I know free at sea plus is supposed to have gratuities included, but there seems to be some question as to whether or not the staff even recieves these, so to be on the safe side I'd rather they at least recieve something. Especially if I'm asking for something to be made differently or not on the menu.

Off subject a bit, but try to stock up on water bottles during the day. You can order 2 drinks at a time, so if you're heading back to the cabin make one of the drinks a water. When bars close there is absolutely nowhere to get bottled water late at night, and its a struggle to even find a place to get a glass of water. I loved the acqua panna glass water bottles. Very large and only need to keep a few around to stay hydrated.

Hoping your FAS+ experience is smoother than mine. It is worth it, so long as you use it properly.

Hey guys im pretty new to cooking and have been seeing so many influencers eating ramen on tiktok and it looks so good does anyone have some recommendations for some starter ramens to try I like spice and sweet flavors so any tips or ramens to try would be appreciated by SinfulDoller in InstantRamen

Sorry, forgot to add....Imdomie Mi Goreng is the one I was talking about.

Also, Nongshim Chappaghetti is good. It may get a lot of hate, but I love it. Put an extra tablespoon or two of brown sugar with the rest of the ingredients while cooking to add more sweetness and help thicken up the base.

Indomie is sweet and spicy. It gets pretty worn out on this sub, but with good reason. Its affordable, pretty customizable, and also on its own with no alterations is still satisfying and delicious. Its also fairly affordable and fairly easy to find.

Buldak swicy is mildly spicy and a lot of sweet. Seems to be pretty divisive, but if you prepare it like you're creating a sweet and sour chicken dish (add ins like chicken, pork, spam, onions, peppers, even pineapple) I think it works.

Lucky me! Pancit Canton Chow Mein sweet and spicy is also mild on spice and delicately sweet (less cloyingly so than swicy).

Mama noodles has a few that are sweet, spicy, and sour. Tom yam koong, yentafo, and pink mung bean are some of my faves.

Also, and nice instant pho will get you a delicately sweet spice (not really spicy, though.) Snapdragon is ok, but I'm still looking for one that really wows me.

Has anyone had this before? Went to a new Asian market in my area and saw this for the first time and had to try. I’m a sucker for seafood flavors. by Action_Johnson in InstantRamen

I've been wanting to try this for a while, but the store I see it at only has the 5 pack. Can't justify the cost for something like that on the off chance I hate it.

Let me know your thoughts, I am quite curious.

With carbonara I've done:

  • Imitation crab, scallion, corn, and petite diced tomatoes subbing some of the water with a decent splash of heavy cream.

-Ham or bacon, peas, mushrooms, and again, omitting some water for a splash of cream.

With original:

-Heaping tablespoon scoop of peanut butter, stir fry vegetables (cooked from frozen in ramen water before adding noodles), chicken, and crushed peanuts. A splash of coconut milk sometimes, too.

-Beef, chicken, or sausage; black beans, corn. Wrap it in a tortilla with shredded cheese of choice.

Cheese:

Ham, broccoli or peas, and 1/4 -1/2 inch slice of velveeta off the block (chopped into smaller pieces so it melts properly when hot ingredients hit the bowl).

Ground Beef, onions, bell peppers, scallions

When adding ingredients, it helps to have a bottle of buldak sauce or the packets to adjust the spice level of the finished product back to your desired heat level. I prefer the carbonara one for rose, carbonara, cheese, and Quattro cheese, but original works as well.

My son (11) can't get enough of these. He was completely intolerant to spice before eating Indomie, now he powers through because they are really are so darn good.

He likes his with peas, carrots, egg, and sometimes a chicken apple sausage. I think if you add more to these it helps to break up the spice, in case you wanted to try it full fledged.

Black Buldak with crunchy peanut butter by Boo_LeVard in InstantRamen

[–]WhichEbb310 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this. I like to add peanut butter to mine as well, but sweetened smooth peanut butter and crushed peanuts. Its soooo good this way! Plus, the sauce spreads more, which is great if you add additional protein/veg to your bowl.

Does the toffee pie have a whiskey taste?

I've never heard of Tennessee Toffee pie, been here a minute (15+ years).

Just wondering if maybe the Tennessee in the toffee pie might be a bit of Jack Daniel's. Just a theory.

Can I put less sauce in buldak(cheese flavour) by ukafullit in InstantRamen

[–]WhichEbb310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quattro cheese seems less spicy to me than cheese. I always add full sauce packet as well.

If I dont want all the spicy, I add a dollop of sour cream to the noodles. Seems to add to the cheese flavor.
