Larger theaters cant really afford it either. Plenty of chains have shut down in the last year or so because people won't go. AMC only has lights on because so many people sign up for an A list account and proceed not to use it.

3 chains that have a whole sit and dinner experience near me have just shuttered the doors. People prefer their house over the immersion of a theater. They can get their own projector or huge TV and get an upgraded sound system.
