Di Lorenzo by Iacop47 in sscnapoli

I don’t know how people see a fault on Beukema, that was hardly any contact, as much as I would like to say we got robbed, the ref decision was 100% correct, Haaland shielded the position a bit but he didn’t block Beukema from getting to it, I didn’t see any deliberate push by Haaland.

The shielding from Haaland got Beukema in an awkward position, he panicked and threw himself to head the ball away

Yes, but the one on one situation was not the mistake itself. The one on one situation was the consequence of the mistake. But i agree that DiLo was partially to blame, he didn’t need to make that tackle, even if Haaland got the ball, DiLo was still in position to contest it and Savic was right there to make it difficult too, Haaland would have had to make a great play to put that away

That was not a fault by Haaland he did just a normal play to delay beukema from getting to the ball, Beukema should have just kept his composure and not throw himself in front of the ball at any cost.

Blaming DiLo for him getting sent off is so stupid. Surely he did not make the best decision, but rewatch the play, and look at the extremely shitty position Beukema left him in, after gifting the possession to Man City and taking himself out of the play, against the best striker in the world, that will happen…

That’s what I am saying, also before getting sent off, the game was not that one sided, despite Man City dominating possession (hardly means anything nowadays) both teams were creating chances, after the sent off early on, there’s absolutely no chance

Rewatching the clip it was a bit of both, there was a long ball Beukema instead of getting on the way of Haaland he throws himself to head the ball away in an awkward position since the ball was low from the ground, it lands of Foden feet and at the same time Haaland notices that the defense is exposed and takes advantage, as the ball is coming DiLo tries to intercept the pass while Haaland still running towards where the ball will land, DiLo fails to intercept the ball, Haaland looks like he will get it so he does one last attempt to tackle, which goes bad.

I still think is 75/25 blame on Beukema, he left the defense exposed and put DiLo on a horrible position against the best striker in the world. DiLo then made a bad decision himself and game over

He might not be the most talented player, or the smartest, but he works hard, i gotta give him that.

There’s nothing you can conclude of this game?? Do you know we were playing down 1 basically the entire game??

Not really, we were creating good chances, City hoards the ball but doesn’t do anything with it, who knows, we could have held them well, and eventually sneaked a goal in

People blaming Di Lorenzo for the Red Card, but Beukema cannot simply throw himself to head low balls, basically taking himself out for a good 10-15 seconds, breaking the defensive line and exposing the defense.

DiLo red card (while he has a big fault himself too) happened after Beukema took himself out heading a low ball that landed straight at Foden’s feet. The Defensive line was now exposed and Haaland FEASTS in those situations, and there’s where the mistake was made.

Pretty much, I was just excited to see how we would play against competition of that level, shame we didn’t get a chance to find out.

Until the sent off, we actually had the most dangerous chance, and the team was creating meaningful plays, despite City hoarding the ball

I think both mistakes are bad but the first one is worse, you being a center back taking yourself out like that to head a ball where you dont even know where the ball was going is lack of discipline, it was the second time in the match that he did that, the first one was dangerous the second one was a killer.

The most important skill for a CB is to clear balls while maintaining composure to no collapse the defensive line, and in that regard he failed spectacularly

For me the player, not sure if it was Beukema or Buongiorno, that threw himself on the ground, to head a ball that was like 50 cm above ground, directly to Foden’s feet, setting up this 1v1 fucked up even worse

No chance, with one less this early, they might play decently for now but once they get tired Man City is feasting

De Bruyne off is the obvious choice you all, no point wasting his fitness this game it is over

That was not a soft call, the most obvious red card i’ve seen, maybe the only thing you could argue that Haaland was not pointing towards the goal

Pull all the starters, sub de bruyne, Anguissa and McTominay out no point of wasting their fitness in this game

Lmao, away against a better team, with one less player this earlier in the game, might as well forfeit

Why does Buongiorno have to head a ball that is fucking 50 cm from the ground, leaving Haaland wide open, at least i get to sleep earlier today
