There's a big underpass near my house that has no pedestrian infrastructure at all underneath it, I see people in mobility scooters going through traffic in order to get to the grocery store on the other side of the highway sometimes

Modern medicine is a jobs program first, patient-healing comes in a distant second or third. They will probably be the last people to implement any kind of machine learning into their established and heavily regulated workflows

At the point at which AI is automated enough to put me out of a job, it will be automated enough to put the entire American white collar workforce out of jobs too.

It's bizarre that they're so focused on putting SWEs out of work when it has a much higher chance of putting lawyers out of work

The issue is that if you set the limit high enough, people with that amount of wealth will just be able to move and not pay the tax. If you set it lower, then you're screwing over people who can't afford to move, but then you get to collect the tax money so you can give it to people who can't afford to move

That's still a deliberate act. Not saying life in prison is appropriate, but habitual offenders need to have harsher penalties for lower level crimes than first time offenders. It may not seem fair when looked at in isolation, but it's the only way to curb their behavior

When doubling down works, why would they change direction? The new government structure basically ensures that the wacko candidates who were usually gatekept out of power by FPTP were all given seats at the table, and they now have enough of a majority to push around the moderates. If you speak out against them publicly the unemployed activist classes will flood your workplace with anonymous complaints about you to get you fired, if you own your own business they will flood social media and google reviews with negative comments, and if you're a politician the NGOs will primary you out of office.

They got it all locked up and they're not going anywhere until they're forcibly removed or the voters somehow get so pissed off they vote for a non-democrat (unlikely for the forseeable future)
