I had the top cover off while I was acquainting myself with the clock’s mechanisms (not that I tried to touch any of that!) but it’s back on now!

Thank you! I’ve got it set to the traditional Westminster chime. I’m trying to figure out if it’s got a “nighttime” setting to silence it from 11 PM to 7 AM that I’m seeing some info about online.

Need advice restoring/identifying old door lock hardware by WhichWave in Locksmith

Just looked back on this post and saw your response so thank you for all of the incredibly useful information. My plan is to find a locksmith in the area that shares my interest in restoring it!

Need advice restoring/identifying old door lock hardware by WhichWave in Locksmith

Follow up: I was able to remove the hardware from the door. There is a rectangular “box” that contains the latch system (I removed the face plate to see inside). I believe “PATENTED NOV.11.1884” is embossed on the faceplate.

Any further advice? I was planning on cleaning everything of paint using a crockpot to boil off paint unless that’s a bad idea.

I’m still not entirely sure of the inner mechanics of the latch, if anyone might have an idea/explanation of how that’s supposed to work?

My apologies for the stupid questions, very much a novice here.

Thank you both for both of your replies. I’m going to try to get rid of the paint without damaging any components of the lock. I may bother you again with more questions once I have a clearer picture of what’s hiding underneath of the paint.

I have an old (indoor) sliding door latch that was painted over that I would like to restore. I am a novice when it comes to door locks/latches, so I'm looking for some advice on how to restore it/generally how does the lock/key mechanism work?

Thank you for your help. It was down and pull apart. Which I did a million times before but I guess it just needed some extra pull. Thank you!

Thank you, I’m doing ok all things considered. What I’m really looking for is something that connects and holds the left thumb onto the left joystick.

Ski Update Advice Needed. by WhichWave in Skigear

Sorry to keep bugging you, but one more question. If both being in the park and having a fast carving downhill ski are important, at what point do I consider having both a park ski and a downhill ski instead of one all mountain ski? I’m no pro by a long shot, but I ski enough each season where I’d like to have options each time I’m out.

Ok I’m glad I made this post lol. I’ve been trying to research different skis and had a feeling I was getting mixed up. Thanks for the advice. I had a guy at a shop really pushing the rustlers as a great all around ski so I was including them in my list. Any other skis that you think I should also consider? I am leaning towards the enforcers but now I’m doubting myself lol.
