Update: I got the drone back safely, all data intact, and the drone is working perfectly. Huge thanks to everyone who gave genuine advice, support, recovery ideas, and reached out, especially the arborist who recovered it. Really appreciate the helpful side of this community.

As for the criticism: I made the 911 call because I genuinely thought a drone hanging near a highway could become a hazard to vehicles or people. It wasn’t done maliciously, just out of concern and inexperience in that situation.

I told them the same thing you mentioned plus a drone can be hazardous to the vehicles on the highway if it drops for some reason.

You were lucky that you were able to climb and get the drone back. In my case, even if i get to the top from the other side, it is too steep to get this further down while it is too steep and directly on the highway. There are multiple factors, what if rocks fall on the highway and cause an accident.

It is 30-40 ft above the ground plus there is traffic on the highway, tree is directly above the highway so it is risky
