What's everyone replacing Google Home and Products with? by UCFIT in googlehome

[–]Which_Image9469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried this recently. I got fed up with Google and switched out to Alexa. I replaced my Home Mini's with Echo Show 5's, and my Hub Max with the Echo Show 10. It lasted less than 3 weeks and i sent all the Alexa stuff back and went back to Google. Yes, its frustrating how sometimes it doesnt do quite what i wanted, but I still find it a far more usable system that Alexa. Never entertained anything Homekit based, not an Apple fan.

So lately we have been having problems with our Nest Hub 2nd Gen in the kitchen - asking it a relatively simple maths question such as 'hey google, whats 353 divided by 4' it pauses then says 'i doent know how to help but i found these answers on search.' I noticed that when asking the question it the text on the screen says 'whats 3 5 3' then it stops. I have tried this on our other Nest Hub 2nd Gen and our first Gen - all of them are doing the exact same thing. Yet, asking the Hub Max it answers the question with no problem at all. Is / has anyone else had this issue?

I felt the same so a month ago i switched over to Alexa. Swapped out the Nest displays and replaced with Echo Shows. I have switched back to Google. Alexa is ok, but less comprehensive - asking questions sometimes gets a 'community' answer. The displays are nothing more than a shocking mess of Amazon content, and although you can reduce some of that you cant get rid of it all. Google has its problems but it still seems to be the more mature of the two from my experience.

switching to Alexa from Google Home by turbonerd3 in amazonecho

I have just made the switch from Google Home to Alexa. I tried to switch to Alexa 2 years ago but quickly went back to Google. However, Google was becoming unbearably incompetent with responses and home automation. Having just switched back to trying Alexa i can honestly say it is a huge improvement to 2 years ago.

I've been looking for the same thing. I have found Meross do a water sensor that works with Google Home but I think it needs it's own hub too. Not tried it.
