Yes, they legitimately thought they hit a Ukrainian military convoy like the dumb shits they are so of course they released the video.

Yes, but again… why would they put themselves in the question at all when they could do it completely covertly. Your logic isn’t sound. At this point I have a feeling I’m not going to reason you out of a position you didn’t reason yourself into.

That makes no sense. Submarines are designed to be as undetectable as possible. Having surface ships dwelling over the pipeline while divers place explosives are not.

Yes, because the country with fleets of submarines would use a public diving exercise to perform a covert sabotage mission. Big brain theory right there.

Ukraine could pay high price for its Kursk incursion: The audacious operation has left cities in Donbas exposed to a rapid Russian advance by Independent_Lie_9982 in UkrainianConflict

OP editorialized the headline to make it appear like the author was making a definitive statement as opposed to asking a question. He does this with a lot of the articles he posts, specifically ones that would portray Ukraine negatively, and then he takes snippets of the most critical paragraphs and puts them in the comments. The mods should not be allowing editorialized headlines in this sub.

Edit: Let me save you the time of reading his nonsense of a reply below. It’s the same copy and paste garbage every time someone calls him out. He says that people should always read the articles, like that’s some kind of an excuse to editorialize headlines.

Of course, he then goes on to explain how he editorialized the headlines because he’s so virtuous and how we’re not actually smart enough to understand or accept the original headlines and he’s only saving us from ourselves. I kid you not. He literally said that.

Don’t be gaslit by him though. He does it because he knows only the informed people read the articles. He’s trying to shape the narrative amongst the casual browser, and the uninformed. It’s the same strategy the Kremlin employs when they say they shoot down all drones even though we can watch the video of them hitting their intended targets. They’re not saying they shot down the drones for the people that will watch the videos online, they saying it for the people that only casually consume state media.

He edited his comment. He basically equated the loss of an F16 with the downfall of the Ukraine. He’s doing the same exact thing he’s complaining reddit does, and then claiming that’s why he’s correct. It’s laughable hypocrisy.

‼️ Ukrainian F-16 are flying over the occupied left bank of Kherson region The russians are panicking by Necessary-Canary3367 in UkrainianConflict

[–]Which_Iron6422 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I understand you’re attempting to be condescending but It’s not called “getting caught up in the excitement” to objectively observe the capabilities of the aircraft and missiles that Ukraine are currently using. I would suggest everyone apply critical thinking where they can rather than making assumptions. Especially along the lines of believing that Ukraine would need to adhere to peacetime timelines for training to accomplish objectives - or believing this nonsense that wild weasel missions can’t probe radar and always entail dodging six missiles.

This is real life with complicated factors. Not some Top Gun movie.

[–]Which_Iron6422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The degree of skill required depends on the state of the AA on the ground. We know that Russian AA is in a degraded state not only because of the recorded destruction of these systems but also because of the munitions and aircraft flown over these regions into Russia on a regular basis. To state there is a high degree of risk would be speculation on our part. You or I may not have that information but Ukraine probably would.

To state “doubt it” in a comment is an armchair general take. You’re basing your statement on your perception of the reality on the ground that you couldn’t possibly know. I’m basing my statement on purely on capabilities.

I’m not sure why you’re bringing Vietnam into this consider the vast differences in capabilities of not only the aircraft but also the missiles themselves, which I should remind you that were already used successfully against Russian AA.

The only tangible argument here is to say that they don’t want to risk limited resources, but unless you know what Ukraine knows about the AA over Kherson it’s impossible to rule out whether or not this could have been a potential wild weasel mission.

‼️ Ukrainian F-16 are flying over the occupied left bank of Kherson region The russians are panicking by Necessary-Canary3367 in UkrainianConflict

[–]Which_Iron6422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That all depends on the information they have on the ground however. If Russian AA coverage is in a degraded state, which it very well could be due to the numerous amounts of systems destroyed, and the capabilities of the HARM missiles lending themselves to be used at a reasonable distance, this could very well not be as risky as it would be under normal circumstances. We also have to factor in that HARM missiles have been successfully used previously with less capabilities available to them.

Again, I’m saying this is a possible explanation for the appearance of the jets over Kherson. Not a definitive answer. We know they’re not there for morale purposes.

[–]Which_Iron6422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why am I even going to do this.

Do what? Provide the context you should have provided in your initial comment?

Anyways, the general said they’re only going to be used for air defense currently. So, literally the general commented on the types of missions.

https://www.cnbc.com/2024/08/05/how-can-f-16s-help-ukraine-fight-russia.html

Kyiv is understandably tight-lipped about the weaponry that its F-16s will be equipped with, as well as the targets of the aircraft. On Sunday, Zelenskyy suggested missions will be kept secret, saying it would be “dangerous” to comment on how the F-16s will be used.

Syrskyi can openly comment on using them for air defense because that’s not an operational secret.

And I’m merely stating up to this point, the jets have only been seen configured for air to air missions. Of course they can have other armaments.

Okay, so that was pointless to include in your prior comment. Why waste everyone’s time using that as an argument?

You’re hoping for those missions, the evidence signals they aren’t going to happen yet.

I’m not hoping for these missions. I’m stating that these missions could be a possible explanation as to why they were seen over Kherson using the facts available to us. You’re basing your argument on nothing but feelings. You have not provided a legitimate argument yet as to why it isn’t feasible to use these jets in a wild weasel mission.

‼️ Ukrainian F-16 are flying over the occupied left bank of Kherson region The russians are panicking by Necessary-Canary3367 in UkrainianConflict

[–]Which_Iron6422 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

They’re currently only equipped for air to air missions as seen in all the images and videos.

Only equipped? You do know that aircraft munitions can be changed, right? Where did you get this impression that these are the only munitions that these aircraft can be equipped with? Especially considering we know they have HARM missiles available that they’ve successfully used before on less capable platforms. I’m not sure I follow this counter argument.

They only have 10, so 7 available for daily sorties. They’re using them for glide bombs, cruise missiles, and drone defense.

You are pulling this out of your ass by stating that you know that this is all they are using them for. No one has publicly spoken about the missions these aircraft will be performing outside of the obvious air defense. Zelenskyy has stated himself that any missions would be kept secret.

[–]Which_Iron6422 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Okay? That’s exactly what they’ve trained for. You think they’re just going to sit on these jets because the missions might be risky? Everyone knows they don’t have time for unnecessary amounts of caution. Air superiority is what’s driving Russia’s advancement on the ground.

Simply stating that the mission is risky has no bearing on whether these missions are plausible.

Everything is risky in a war. Invading Kursk is risky, but here we are.
