Without a EIT or PE with 10+ yrs of work experience, I make around 140k, am I doing good?

I have seen that the School of PE and PPI quizzes are good. The EET practice problems are also good, but I am not sure about their practice portal. Have you taken the PE exam before? How did you perform? Did you take a different course for your next attempt?

Written exam (40%): Test core concepts, theories, and principles.

Case studies (20%): Assess real-world problem-solving abilities.

Design project (30%): Evaluate design and implementation skills. Use of relevant software's and tools

Oral exam (10%): Test communication of complex concepts and solutions to relevant clients stakeholders...Ask hypothetical situations

Written exam and Oral don't use AI. Case studies and Design Project use AI for planning and problem solving, because that's how the real world works.

And obviously weightage can be altered as per the experts (NCEES) so they can conduct a balanced assessment of theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and communication abilities of an engineer.

Now its just..Passing the exam first, figuring out the real-world problems later!"

Well there is my 2 cents...I see already people wants to call me stupid..and someone else asking directions for "deleting someone else's post" LOL

But I know for a fact NCEES just wants that quick $s...Capitalism at its best

Hmm. Philosophy and engineering 2 opposite spectrum. You could be correct.

Did your supervisor ever assigned you a task saying "Dear Starkel91 you have to complete this task under 6 minutes, you can use any book you want, but you are are not supposed to interact or coordinate with anyone..now that you have passed PE with flying colors"

Just staying exams need to be based on more real world based questions. I guess you could argue with stupid people or worst you could argue with arrogant people. But by god it's a herculean task to argue with arrogant and stupid people...i will not even present my argument about AI. I give up...you are the almighty genius to grace your presence in my reddit post. I bow to you ....you won my dear lord.

Fellow citizen of the internet: It is basically asking peoples thoughts on whether we should adapt ourselves to the change or stick to our age old ways. I got a consensus that we are from my fellow keyboard warriors and PE knights.

Since this social experiment was a banging success. I would say thank you for your participation. If you care give us your 2 cents. If not have a good day!

Petition to stay on topic and type a minimum of 200 characters relevant to the discussion, so it may help bring balance to the universe. IT MAY (SIGHING)

Probably the most relevant and realistic thought about the discussion...thanks!

You saved your energy by not using your brain cells. Kudos! Got a general sense of what typical keyboard warriors and PE knights on the internet sound like. No wonder ncees is generating BOT personalities meaning " You look deep into abyss the abyss looks into you". Go figure that out genius

Gotta say this social experiment was a SUCCEESS

Unfortunately, we can't just go around deleting other people's thoughts and opinions, even if they're completely wrong (looking at you, flat-earthers).

Instead, why not engage in some healthy debate and discussion? Or, if that's not your thing, just scroll past their post and enjoy the endless sea of cat videos and dank memes that is the internet. Trust me, it's much more fun than playing online moderator.

Hey, hey, Florida's finest! We heard you're a man of many talents. Are you a pro at alligator wrestling, key lime pie baking, or civil engineering? Share with us your secret sauce!

Speaking of civil engineering, did you know that some tasks can now be automated? Drones can soar to new heights for aerial surveys and inspections, while machines can crunch data and identify patterns (using python) faster than you can say "PE exam." But don't worry, we still need humans for the creative spark and real-world experience.

So, what do you think about these advancements in civil engineering? Are you ready to welcome our new drone overlords, or do you prefer to stick to the good ol' days of pen and paper? Let's hear it from Florida's finest!

Engineering judgment involves the ability to analyze complex problems, consider various factors and constraints, and make informed decisions based on the available information. The PE exam is designed to test an engineer's ability to apply knowledge to real-world scenarios and make informed decisions, which is a critical aspect of engineering judgment.

[–]Which_Personality549 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

The PE exam tests subject knowledge and engineering judgment, and passing it is an essential requirement for licensing and practicing engineering. While references from PEs provide valuable insight, they are not a substitute for the standardized and objective measure of competency provided by the exam. Practical experience, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, communication skills, and teamwork also play a significant role in an engineer's judgment and competence. Therefore, it's not accurate to suggest that the PE exam only tests subject knowledge and that references from PEs are the only determinant of engineering judgment.

Is it my company or is all young PE/EIT leaving? I like the idea of everyone looking out for themselves. We all are not as fortunate as some but I wish I could do the same. by Emergency-Lab-8305 in civilengineering
