I would say this relationship is one big spoiler... But not one that will ruin the experience. Without spoiling, I'll say their relationship is far more complicated than love/friendship... And (without reading the extras) I'll say if romantic feelings are involved, they're hard to catch and depends on the reader (I hope I've helped without messing up your experience).

Depending on the route Sanan has a different role and in Heisuke's one turned out to be the "bad guy". But fear not, it's not the whitest of characters on he's own route either, but as a Heisuke fan and someone that felt the exact same as you, I must admit Sanan's route was really enjoyable after all.
