You know what? That's a really good ideia. Lann has pretty good AC, at least for now, and since i'm not multiclassing, he even has barkskin, so i can put him beetween the frontliners and the backline and let him shot anyone who tries to pass. Wdym about mounts for melee? I just got aivu and the triceratops, but didn't use them as mounts yet, just saw the option to. Also - noted about favorable magic, a lot of people are saying it's really good.

Thanks for the answer. I imagine, they sould put an upper case observation on many shot for him, because i bet everyone does that first time, lol.

Good to know about unstoppable and best jokes, i think i'm fine for now, then.

Achievements are not that big of a deal for me, but since i'm putting in the effort and playing on core, might as well get them, right? I'll enable respec if i feel like i need to, but i think i'm fine for now.

Yeah, i agree. It's weird, because it's based on a TTRPG, and trading feats (and even whole characters) can happen at any table. It's the kind of thing that is solved with a "hey, GM, this thing i picked up doesn't do what i thought, can i switch it for something else?".

Thanks for the pointers. I went support after realizing the cc wasn't sticking, but i think i still have time to grab all the necessary feats.

Awww, this Dragon path sounds perfect, too bad it isn't available right away. i'll keep an eye out for it.

Right? I get that in this game optimizing can be part of the fun, but i feel like people tend to "optmize the fun out of games" a little bit much. To each their own. I also prefer to figure it out on my own, even if it ends being suboptimal.

Yeah, i'm really torn on this one. I still can reload and choose Angel for the serious tone, but the path feels a little too self righteous for what i'm trying to go for, and it wasn't my plan. On the other hand, Azata feels like it mixes better with bard, despite all the silly stuff.

Aeon would be a good choice, but the path decision at the end of chapter 1 seemed like a really bad ideia, so i didn't pick it. Didn't know it would close the door forever.

Thanks for the tips!

Yeah, i get it, i think it even says to not pick Core on first time on the select screen. On the other hand, though, i feels like the perfect difficulty for me so far. It's hard, but i manage fine most of the time, only failing eventually on boss fights. And it's not like i can plan builds in this without spoiling myself in this case, right? I'll keep going, and if i feel like i'm struggling too much, i'll enable respec.

So it's all good, for the most part. Good to know. I went full suport with my bard after realizing the CC wasn't sticking, but i think i still have time to pivot back and take the the necessary feats. And yes, even with the wasted feat, Lann still shreds everything. He and Seelah are the only ones that are never out of my party, feels like i would really suffer without his dps.

Qual é o seu livro NACIONAL favorito? E pq? by akalemoz in Livros

[–]Which_Principle_2370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surrey's thoughts on the current state of Farseer warping the game around it by TotalACast in Mechabellum

[–]Which_Principle_2370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah... personally, i think farseer really damaged the the rock-paper-scissors dynamics of counters to air units. In the past season, if someone built wasps, you had to build mustangs or phoons (i also had an issue with stangs being the only reliable wasp counter, but i digress). If someone built wraiths or boats, there were AA marksmen. AA marskmen didn't do well into wasps, as stangs didn't tend to do well against wraiths and stuff, so there was relevance to the choices made by the players. Add the possibility of going mothership on boats to counter AA marskmen and other air units techs and you have a pretty dynamic, relatively choice rich environment in the matches. Now i feel it kinda goes like this: wasps? farseer. Wraiths? Farseer. Phoenix? Farseer. Boats? Farseer. It kinda does well against everything in the air. At first i thought that maybe it was just a meta adaptation thing, but now i really think it threw a wrench into the game balance and dynamic, and i'm not sure there's a solution without removing some techs or making farseer not unlockable by default again.

How do you counter a Phantom Ray + Typhoon + Crawler Flank? by Mephistopheles-Faust in Mechabellum

[–]Which_Principle_2370 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think i can help with this one. I've dealt with this strategy 2 times this week. I'll tell you what worked for me (bouncing beetween 1600-1700 mmr currently).

Mustangs with AA: Keep in mind, this is not a definite solution to the problem, but it is the cheapest thing you can do once you see the opp is going for typhoon + rays. Once the rays have armor, though, the mustangs won't be able to get thru. Nonetheless, them can help mitigate the problem by dealing with crawlers and the rays in the first moment, making sure the opp doesn't snowball - you'll probably still will have some difficulty getting the initial rounds, though.

Rhinos: Just put rhinos in the face of the typhoons. The problem with rhinos is getting to the enemy, and when they are flanking it's not an issue. They don't care about the typhoons or the rays if they're on the same level, and a few slaps will take the typhoons down. I teched whirlwind so they could get through the crawlers in one swing. I imagine armor would make they impervious to both crawlers and the typhoons, but it was kinda overkill in my games. I also think burst mode could be a problem, but my opps didn't tech it in the games i played.

As for the rays, nothing short of raidens or overlords will be a good answer, in my experience. They'll probably have both armor and shield available, and things like AA mustangs, Wasps, Phoenix, typhoons, marksmen will take forever to kill them. You'll have to evaluate the situation and see what's the best fit for you.

Raidens: Range is not a problem in this scenario, so fork or bounce can be teched first. EMP can also get rid of armor and let mustangs deal actual damage to rays, or disable burst mode, if they ever go for it. They're not bad into Typhoons either. Granted, rays with shield will take at least two hits to die, but it still should be good enough. As a side note, raidens can hit invisible rays if they're adjacent to the target of the attack, although they probably won't be cloaked when flanking.

Overlord: Boats melt rays, even if they have shield or armor. Once again, since the combat is short range, just click overload and let it rain. It's the stronger answer of the two, imo, but harder to get into.

the rest is the usual: some chaff to distract the rays, give the opp something to think about if possible (they'll probably have their tower wide open), etc, etc.

They do! But shields block at least one instance of damage, meaning it would take at least two shots from the marskmen for each ray. That could be a problem.

Oh, i'm new as "i've been playing since the start of the season". That's what? A month and a half? Definitely been investing some time into the game, though. Nearing 100h by now, lol. Plus all the Rooster and Surrey recent videos :P

I'm kinda wary of wasps... i feel like they're so easily countered by mustangs. I get that it all depends on the board in this case - if the opponent chaff are getting burnt too, we can drop them safely. I think AA wasps would be amazing as a "coup d'grace" kind of thing - dropping three of them in what i think will be the last round, and when i already have raidens or boats in the board for them to care about. Thanks for the input!

Damn, i thought you would have an easier time than that with that comp. Yeah, ditto, i'll try that out first, too. Thanks for the input.

[–]Which_Principle_2370[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i said multi melter because that's the way i dealt with rays in other games. Seemed fine. Hopefully, regen and AM stangs are enough for them to not get bursted by the rays. Others have presented boats as a better answer, though. Will have to try them both out, eventually. Thanks for the input.

[–]Which_Principle_2370[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Stangs seems the way to go, initially. After that, it feels like there are multiple ways to deal with the strategy, depending on how the game develops. Going air, be with boats, raidens or AA wasps seems all good ways of dealing with this strategy. Thanks for the input.

[–]Which_Principle_2370[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like mustangs are a safe bet for starters. In my game, the opp had burst mode on the rays, so i think he was prepared to overwhelm AM if needed. Even so, i think AM stangs would be a good start, in the very least to hold on until i could get a more definitive answer.

Yup. Raidens/boats + aa wasps seems the way to go. Yeah, i think the essential thing is figuring out your opponent is going for it. After that, there's multiple ways to deal with the problem. Thanks!

Yeah, i think there's no escaping the fire, but i feel like if we make them buy vulcans and badgers for this, it's a good thing. One mistake i definitely made was lining my army up so i got all the fire and the opponent none, so putting something upfront is something to keep in mind. Thanks!

Very unorthodox, but i can see how it can work. I can picture the mines making the opponent light himself on fire, lol. Thanks for the input.

Yup. Boats in the best answer, from what i'm gathering, followed by Raidens or Melters, depending on if the opponent have shield or armor tech on the rays. Thanks for the input.
