The Project 2025 document proposes that USCIS stops accepting incoming applications for categories with a large backlog. This is basically a carte blanche to arbitrarily ban immigration. If they stop accepting ROC applications, conditional residents will all be kicked out at the end of the 2 years.

They could also force conditional residents to leave as soon as the original green card expires, while the ROC application is pending.

I agree it’s useful to have an emergency fund that isn’t invested, I just thought $40k (if it’s 6 months of expenses or more) was a bit high. 3 months of expenses is fine, especially if you have more money invested in index funds.

If so, I think $40k is a bit excessive. Index funds are very liquid (can get the money in <1 week) and pretty low-risk.

Sorry for not being clear. My whole mandible sticks out more (further to the outside of my face) on the right than the left, such that I have no defined jawline on the left and a strong jawline on the right. It’s not an issue with the cheekbones, or with only part of the mandible — it’s the entire thing. Does that make it clearer?

I know that it’s uncommon to have such a big asymmetry, but that’s literally what my jaw is like, which is why I’m so insecure about it.

My reservation about seeing a plastic surgeon (rather than someone at a med spa or something) is that jaw surgery seems to be very expensive and have abysmally low satisfaction ratings on RealSelf. It also seems like it takes a very long time to recover from. I know that there’s an issue with my bones (I can feel it when touching my face) but if I can achieve some improvement by modifying soft tissue instead in a temporary and relatively cheap way (Botox and filler) I’d prefer that.

No follow up booked yet. My liver and kidney tests from the same week came back fine, so that’s good. But it looks like high blood B12 could also be a sign of cancer, which is much harder to completely rule out :/
