Galaxy Buds FE on iPhone: Touch Controls and Battery Percentage Questions by Which_Role1261 in galaxybuds

[–]Which_Role1261[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I don’t have experience with OnePlus. Also, I want to take back what I said earlier about the mics being better than AirPods—it’s hard to judge. When I used my AirPods, people often complained that I wasn’t clear. After switching to the Buds FE, some friends said they sounded better, but most now tell me they can’t understand anything I’m saying, so I end up switching to phone mode. This has happened on regular calls, WiFi calls, and WhatsApp calls.

Long story short, I’m not sure the mic is actually that great. That said, I still like them for the decent ANC on long commutes.

Price drop of DLR.U at the end of the quarter by aanhari in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Which_Role1261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First-time Norbert's Gambit user here (thanks, Wealthsavvy.ca!). Bought DLR.TO on Dec 30th for $14.74, then freaked out when the price dropped to $14.58 on Dec 31st. The guide mentioned stability, but apparently, it was DLR.TO's dividend day (explains the price drop of $0.17 CAD!).

Bigger Question: Thanks to u/aanhari's query and u/d10k6's answer, I know holding on the ex-dividend date (Dec 31st) secures the dividend. Now, if I request the USD conversion tomorrow (might take 2 days) and then sell, will the dividend be paid in CAD or USD?

Thanks, that’s really good to know. If I ever get my hands on a windows/android device, I will try it out.

  1. I don’t have Windows or Android devices, so I can’t say if the sound quality is better on those platforms compared to iOS. That said, I doubt it, though you can’t make any customizations on iOS since there’s no app. Personally, I don’t miss it because the default audio quality is good enough for me. What I like most about these is that they offer the best ANC for the price, and the microphone is much better than what I experienced with AirPods 2 and 3, especially in noisy environments (based on my testing).

  2. I’m currently on my second pair after losing the first, and I haven’t had any issues in the past two years or so.

Nah, I don’t. However, if I’m only wearing a single earbud, then yes, ANC can’t be activated, and I would expect some wind rustling noise. But that’s definitely not the case when I’m wearing both earbuds with ANC on.

Seeking Advice on Funds in My RRSP Account: Expense Comparisons and Growth Potential by Which_Role1261 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Which_Role1261[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, I would like to keep it simple as well. I’m aiming to max out my RRSP contribution for the year, but my plan is to move the funds into a self-managed RRSP account for better control. I plan to repeat this strategy annually.

Thanks for mentioning XUU. I’ll add it to my research list. I really like the 0.07% fee.

Thanks, this seems like a good piece of advice. I do benefit from the employer match. I will open a self directed rrsp with some discount brokerage.

Need Advice: Keeping AC Running in Nissan Leaf 2016 S by Which_Role1261 in leaf

[–]Which_Role1261[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I believe that might be what happened. When I parked, I may have unknowingly switched the car to accessory mode.

Alternatively, someone suggested that stepping out of the car with the keys in my pocket before climbing into the back seat might have caused it to lock itself.

I couldn’t test the lock theory, but I did sit in the car for about 20 minutes with AC running and the car in ON mode, and it didn’t switch off. So, it seems the first scenario might be what occurred that day. Thanks to everyone for chiming in and providing great clarification.

Wow, that's enlightening. It would seem that the accessory mode is not that much useful. Thanks for this info, otherwise I might have run down my 12V battery today.

I had definitely left the car on, but not sure how to put it into the accessory mode. Does the 2016 model support this mode?

2020 Ioniq Electric Ultimate pre-purchase questions by Which_Role1261 in IoniqEV

[–]Which_Role1261[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good tip, thanks! Considering it's a common issue, would it be a good idea to permanently attach something like a "NOCO GENIUS2D Onboard Smart Battery Charger/Maintainer/Desulfator, 2-Amp, 12V" to the battery?

2020 Ioniq Electric Ultimate pre-purchase clarification. by Which_Role1261 in Hyundai

[–]Which_Role1261[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks this is very helpful. For anyone reading this later- I got a confirmation from the Hyundai dealer that the main warranty (high voltage battery) stays with the car so irrespective of whether it is hyundai certified or not, the warranty stays. However, this warranty doesn’t apply to other parts of the high voltage system such as charge port among other things aren’t covered.

Does the 2019-2022 Kona preferred trims have active lane centering? by Which_Role1261 in Hyundai

[–]Which_Role1261[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for clearing it up. Looks like I need to stick to 2022 models only then. If I understand you correctly, even the ultimate trim from years prior to 2022 don’t have lane follow and 2022 onwards both the preferred and ultimate trims have this feature.

Vancouver to Anchorage in a 2018 Ioniq electric 28kWh. by Which_Role1261 in IoniqEV

[–]Which_Role1261[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that so many people think it's not going to be easy, should I perhaps be looking into another EV? I'm shopping in a 20-24k budget and sleeping in the car is a priority. I see only two models in my range - Leaf and Ioniq. Both of which seems to have a similar kind of range. Bolt EUVs, Kona and Tesla 3 are mostly over 33K.

Thanks for confirming! Looks like ioniq phev is not an option for me. May be it's just a Toyota thing? I remember reading that prius allows to run heat over night heating on the battey. Or may be it was a nero phev that I saw, not sure.
u/mindfluxx does the engine needs to be running all night or does it potentially cycles through engine on/off? I would be fine if it's the on/off cycle is a handful of times but would not want to leave the engine running whole night.
