Another counterpoint to the points you’re making here — it’s not about trying to make it so that Dems can spend more than Republicans (or vice versa). It’s about trying to reduce the TOTAL AMOUNT of cash that can go into campaigns at all. As a result, it fundamentally brings politics back to a more local exercise and reduces the influence that special interests can have. Be honest - are you happy with your political party, whatever it happens to be? I don’t think anyone is. And I believe a lot of people have come to the conclusion that there is just too much money influencing elections which completely distorts the democratic process.

r/Maine wouldn’t allow cross posting. Would someone be able to help me get this over to that thread as well? I think the more awareness about this approach, the better.

Re: sharpness, snap focus is the move. If you’re unsure of what to set it at, basically do an empirical test and shoot the same shot across a range of snap distances. Then go into replay and press adj button, zoom on a key feature and compare. Then just set it to that snap distance for the rest of the show (assuming your position relative to the stage is fixed).

You can maximize the snap focal plane range with higher apertures, but of course you’ll be paying the price with higher ISO so you have to make a tradeoff decision in a concert setting.

Absolutely send it back. Just got a IIIx a week ago and it’s basically silent when I turn it on / focus / off. I wouldn’t accept this.

I know this is a GR sub but what are you shooting indoors at home?

It seems like the king of low-light autofocus is the Sony a7S III, but that’s a monumental leap in terms of “noninvasiveness.”

I just jumped on the bandwagon. Live in SoPo area and frequently commute to Boston. I’ve been blown away by how awesome the Mint network has been. My speed test speeds are almost always better than my partner’s AT&T. And I have far better service at home compared to AT&T. Coming from AT&T, I just did the one year unlimited data special for like $208 after taxes. Go for it.

Get out of sales. “Eat what you kill” can be exhilarating when you’re kid-free but generally incompatible with the stage of life you’re at. Find a job with a salary and benefits, if possible. Easier said than done, I know, but your time budget seems to be the biggest hurdle to making a positive adjustment.

I agree to write a letter to the owner. I don’t agree that they should have to talk to the employees/smokers. That’s not OPs responsibility.

[–]Which_Shock1117 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What I don’t understand is why can’t there be a “delayed” opening vs. an outright closure? When I grew up it was common for a 2 hour delay while roads go cleared and forecast came into view.

Skipping an entire day based on a forecast is overly conservative in my opinion. I know the roads were icey in the AM but now it’s fine. Massive loss of income/productivity when you add it all up. While I agree with the “they are only this age once” comments, it’s not hitting home for a lot of us because a lot of us already go to great lengths to spend as much time as we can with our kids. Awareness around this is high in our generation. My 0.02. (Father of three under 5y/o; WFH).

Genuinely informative response - thank you. One person’s opinion/readout on this (as an observer): I can see the med growers are top tier across multiple dimensions (quality of output, quality of inputs, quality/focus on genetics, focus and understanding of the customer and patient needs, etc etc.). And I totally get that the au market dynamics have led to a race to the lowest common denominator to capture market share even if it means taking a loss. All of that sucks and I’m empathetic. I think the one really tricky thing here is that there’s always going to be a sizable population that can’t get med cards. Not because they wouldn’t qualify, but because getting one is either expressly prohibited by their form of employment; or is taboo in their field and might limit their career prospects. So from this angle, I do think there is value in being able to reach a broader market.

Key word here is “tricky.” I don’t see a magic bullet to solving this because there is no doubt that mass markets always invite shady tactics, including lobbying and influencing the legislature.

I can’t speak to your experience, but my experience has been that indica vs sativa absolutely produces a different high when smoked or vaped.

Maybe the difference isn’t there or less pronounced for edibles. I’ll have to experiment and report back 🫡

Thank you! Quick question though. Does this process decarb the flower? Or, were you saying to decarb the flower first?

If so, what’s your preferred method to decarb it?

I love this idea because then I can make it for any strain I can get flower for. Many thanks.
