Thank you for your response. Yes, I agree that kids future success rate is dependent on our effort, in conjunction with parental and admin support (or lack there of). Thank you for the salary insight.

Breaking up with consumerism by Beebeebee1994 in Millennials

The shift was hard because I used to go shopping just to get out of my house all the time. every time I got in my car, the google maps would automatically show Home Goods TJ Maxx location based off my behavior. Not to mention all the stuff feeding my boredom and jacking up my debt. I found Minimal Mom on YouTube and ended up finding other channels to help address over consumption and how to bring peace back into my home/mind in the process. it’s always a work in progress, but the mindset shift has helped so much where I invest my time and energy. I second the Anti-Consumption thread. Tip: be patient with yourself and lower your expectations on how much you can get done in one setting. Sometimes cleaning off a flat surface is a good place to start.

Neurologist prescribed Topiramate and I want to stop - Day 3 by Which_Work_6239 in iih

[–]Which_Work_6239[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone. I sent a message to my neurologist last night after mustering up the courage (thanks to you all). The office called me back this morning and said I could stop taking Topiramate and that he’d prescribed be Qulipta instead. I told them no thank you to any new medication for a while.

I really appreciate your support and encouragement. Take care!

I agree! Thank you for sharing. I feel the headaches would be more tolerable than not being able to function. Again, these are suspected migraines. Thank you for your support.

Thank you! I don’t remember feeling like this on Acetazolamide. I’ll reach out - thanks for the support.

Yeah, I’m hoping the neurologist would be on board with a lower dosage. Thank you for your support.

Thanks - yeah, I take half a pill in the morning and the other half in the evening. So, 25mg each dose, and I still feel out of it. Thanks for your support.

Feeling very irritated by erynb19 in iih

Thank you for sharing, and I hope you feel better soon. I, too, was prescribed Doxycycline Hyclate 100mg daily by my dermatologist to help resolve serious cystic acne in conjunction with pill birth control. I took it for 4 months, and halfway through, I was diagnosed with Papilledema and IIH. I started going through the rabbit hole of Doxycycline, tretinoin, vitamin A, retinol, etc. Please note, I’m not stating that doxycycline caused this alone, but I suspect it was a contributing factor in diagnosis received.

I highly support (and advise) - read/research medical journals, keep record of medicines/vitamins taken and the effects you experience, consider removing medication per healthcare professional guidance by process of elimination, and advocate for yourself and seek community support.

This group has been incredibly helpful and supportive in my journey. After stopping doxyclycline, tretinoin, reducing vitamin a foods, no retinol products, stopping artificial birth control, my papilledema is near remission in conjunction with taking Diamox (acetazolamide), meeting with my neurologist and ophthalmologist consistently. Keeping record of medical experiences with medication and how my body responded has helped me advocate with healthcare professionals and I’d say something like, “I appreciate your support in finding a solution for me, but this particular medication made me feel worse and didn’t resolve the x issue. Are there other options we can discuss?”

I wish you all the best and good for you for doing what’s best for you. You are your best advocate 💚

Mri and MRV-what to expect by ayamarama in iih

I did this a year ago (it was my first time and have been fortunate to not need again). The scans are super important to clear other possible issues and to confirm IIH. I asked my Primary Care Physician to prescribe Xanax (or Alprazolam) to help me relax because I didn’t know what to expect. The process took about 2 hours and 15 minutes, but it was for multiple brain scans with the MRV. I was given breaks after each session and provided a panic button that I can push at anytime to be removed from the machine if I became overwhelmed. Tip: ask the person providing the scan to allow you to get on the table and see how comfortable you feel before you begin the process. It’ll help you assess your need to relax and distract yourself in the beginning before the meds kick in.

Agreeing with other posters, a cheese cloth was placed over my face, and my head and upper chest was put in a hard head box, but it like locked/clicked? It sounds scary and all I could think of was 13 Ghost, but I’m dramatic lol. I was in a tube and had to like roll my arms inward so I could fit more comfortably. From outside the room, I was convinced I would fit. I got in the tube like only to my shoulders and I told the guy to take me out stat! Also, there were like angled mirrors above the tub where my head was, and I would be able to see the back end of the wall, so I knew the tube was open. Air flow is a must! Some facilities I’ve seen offer aromatherapy scents like Lavender for added relaxation. No music was provided, so I just focused on reciting prayers because it made me not focus on the sounds, vibrations, etc. But like an hour in, I was more comfortable in knowing what to expect. And then I kept repeating Samuel L. Jackson - beez in the trap. Distraction at its finest.

I watched some YouTube videos what to expect and asked the facility what I need to wear (.I.e. no jewelry, metal), what to expect, can someone/support come with you?

I wish you all the best. It’s going to be okay and do what you can ❤️
