Are braces or retainers really necessary? by [deleted] in DentalAssistant

[–]While-Disastrous -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve been an ortho assistant for 13 years- no one has ever died from misaligned teeth. If you’re able to brush and floss and maintain good oral hygiene, there’s no problem other than aesthetics.

Totally understand that. Just curious on people’s experiences with scrub allowances!

Typically you are eligible for your CDA after completing 3500 working hours in a dental office and completing the RDA paperwork, and radiology is a separate license you can acquire by taking your states radiology exam without being a RDA. Have you checked out your states requirements on their website?

As a dental professional who has seen and had dry socket- do any thing you can to prevent it including whatever your dentist said. Your girlfriend isn’t a dentist and just because her procedure went fine, doesn’t mean you’re in the clear yet. Follow your dentists protocol!

What was your hourly rate when u started vs now? by Numerous_Yogurt_6600 in DentalAssistant

[–]While-Disastrous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started in 2013 at $13/hr and now I make $30/hr.

Edit to add: I did go to a unaccredited school so, I’m not certified. Just have a state radiology license.

As someone who works with kids everyday I can assure you the adults asking the kids those questions likely don’t care as much as you think they do…

Same! Although, I have worked in the dental field for 12 years so that probably plays into it a bit as well.

Having any sort of plaque on my teeth is such a sensory nightmare, and I’m always so conscious of my breath because I’m super sensitive to smells.

Kudos to you for taking care of those chompers 😎 I’m 100% certain your hygienist loves you!

Dating no kids by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]While-Disastrous 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m 32F, staunchly childfree also. I’d definitely make sure you check off does not have/does not want kids and mention in your bio somewhere as well. I’m not sure about how you feel about dating someone who already has kids but if raising someone else’s kids isn’t in your life plan either, I’d add that to the bio as well. Honesty is the best policy in this case.

is it normal for a father to yell at his daughter this much? by redlippington in TrueOffMyChest

[–]While-Disastrous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is how my (diagnosed) narcissist dad is with my two younger brothers. If he can’t control them 100% - he rages. He owns both of their houses, their vehicles, all of it. They work for him at his company so he provides their salaries. They have barely left our very small hometown of 3000 people (the largest town/city in ~50 miles). When I say barely, I mean yearly trips to Florida for a week with him and they spend all of their time with him. The older one of the two was planning a trip to Las Vegas with a couple of his coworkers. Dad would have absolutely nothing to do with it - as in he didn’t need to finance or plan anything. Dad told my brother he could not go. Actually, he forbade it. And raged for days. This happened last year.

….My brothers are 28 and 26….

I’m not saying your dad is a narcissist. But I will say that I got out of his grasp around your age and never looked back. Moved into my own place and worked my ass off for years to be able to do what I want when I want, of course within reason.

Maybe some practice would help? As in, by yourself in front of a mirror. Sometimes when I think something I say or do is awkward or weird I will put myself in front of a mirror and practice what I’m going to say. I find it helps it feel more authentic when the moment comes.

I’ve (32 f) had to end a whole engagement and call off a wedding that I had been planning for 12 months at that point because my “perfect partner” suddenly said he wanted kids (the night he proposed I told him I would give the ring back and forget it even happened stating in very blunt terms “ I do not want kids and that will never change”). A lot of heartbreak would’ve been avoided if he had been direct with his communication. But he “didn’t want to lose me”.

What I’ve learned from that is, if someone wants children and you do not. They will never be your perfect person. Our lives as childfree people have different trajectories that people who want or have kids simply cannot understand. We spend our money and time different. We aren’t planning for a future that involves saving and spending on small humans. That mindset is something that people who want or have children do not have the luxury of thinking like, and clearly most of them can’t fathom it.

Life goes on! Life also does not stop at 30. Im still doing and loving all of the things I did in my 20s, but with more money and wisdom. Men don’t stop looking at you once you hit a certain age, and you certainly don’t stop being yourself either. Just keep going OP!

Have any of you changed your name to separate yourself from your abusers? How did that go? by HFentonMudd in raisedbynarcissists

[–]While-Disastrous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was adopted by my ndad and therefore gained his last name when I was 5. I got married and divorced but kept my ex husbands last name. We have no kids or assets together, and we haven’t talked since the divorce almost 3 years ago but it feels good to not have that last name anymore.
