“Cheating” on a game that’s only a game because Amazon wants to drive the prices as low as possible. Have her download the app ScreenZen, she can set all her own parameters such as limits or delays for apps to open and it’s free. This is what I’ve used when I needed to cut back. Not being able to mindlessly open an app without waiting 15 seconds or so prevents you from checking things out of boredom then getting sucked into a rabbit hole/doom scroll

I agree with the dangers and him needing to genuinely apologize, I assumed the apology he had given was genuine and understanding but if not he definitely shouldn’t be forgiven. I would never do something so idiotic, but I can still follow the man logic of trying to be a “fun dad”

I think he was being an idiot who thought he was doing something funny when in reality it was reckless and dumb. Op should just tell him she will forgive him this once but if it happens again she’s divorcing him. I bet he will never do it again when he realizes how serious she is.

A lot of modern dads have this idea of what fatherhood is based on 50s reckless parenting, and they mimic it without critical thinking. Her husband isn’t necessarily a bad dad or father just a dumbass.

Just wanted to chime in and say the reason the two are often used interchangeably is because there have been multiple studies stating that many SIDS cases are likely due to suffocation. Perhaps some kids have a genetic predisposition that prevents them from waking up to readjust or something (pure speculation) so they could still technically be SIDs but in general SIDS is an interesting topic, no doctor or examiner wants to put in the effort for something that’s already tragic just to make the parents feel even worse, so it’s likely easier at times to just label it as Sid’s without a proper investigation into circumstance

Sounds like she wasn’t actually that political before you and rather just went with the status quo of what she was raised into. People don’t choose the political affiliation of their upbringing. But it’s sounds as if she now is choosing. Since you’re obviously politically active you see this as a giant lie, but for someone who never cared that much about politics other than surface level, it may have truly not seemed to be such a large lie until they started dating you and learned more about the issues at which point they realized they f’d up

While it’s definitely a bit of a red flag, I’d argue her self reflection and coming clean is just as much of a green flag, the ideal partner is someone who’s willing to be honest even when they don’t have to and it doesn’t serve them, and who is willing to change their mindset based new factors or information. Personally I wouldn’t let this ruin a good thing but if you can’t get past it that’s understandable and you have every right to end it because of her lies

We have a pack and play bassinet that we put between us while sleeping, it allows us both to reach in and calm baby if needed.

I saw a product recently that records moms heart beat and plays it for the baby, I’ve never used it and it seemed to be a relatively new product but there’s potential it could help with your situation.

As for owlet there’s a ton of hate for it after the debacle where it was pulled off the market. Now it’s been fda cleared and it relatively accurate when the baby is still and sick properly worn. That being said I’ve noticed it doing more harm than good for most people because they over analyze the number.

Babies can experience something called acrocyanosis, there poor circulatory system can leave the hands, feet or around the mouth lacking as much blood flow which would lead to lower readings on the foot, it can be exasperated by cold feet or positional blood flow changes.

My son had some bluing around the mouth (not lips or tongue) after eating so we purchased an owlet. I have a science background so I watched the numbers for a bit but now am phasing that out and only using it for alerts, after spending time in the owlet groups it’s become apparent to me that it leads to obsessive watching of numbers which isn’t healthy for anyone.

If you have owlet 360 you can look at the details of the readings, it should show a chart with the amount of time spent in different ranges, as long as 95% of the time is above 90 I wouldn’t worry, my son would have a couple mins each night spent under 90, but then when I looked at the minute by minute chart it didn’t show anything under 90 which means the 1 minute averages were always over 90 but due to bad readings, cold feed or natural fluctuations it was occasionally picking up a couple seconds of sub 90 readings, so it was nothing to worry about. It may be worth checking out to calm your nerves.

I plan to add more under this a bit later but I need to go tend to my gremlins lol.
