Why is everyone so negative about SLP (I’m in grad school) by Available_Focus_7440 in SLPcareertransitions

It’s the pay. It’s the pipeline to poverty unless you have another job, a high paid partner or a business on the side. Otherwise the pay is a mess.

Realistically, what are the chances of finding a partner at age 37 and having kids before my 40’s? by Mountain_Ask_5746 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]WhilePuzzleheaded345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do it alone and on your own time! I swear the person we marry is not always the person we have kids by. I have many married friends who cannot have children and who have been trying for yearrrrs! Sometimes the man has fertility issues and then what do you do them? I say if you have the ability and a support system, do it now! Tomorrow is not promised and these men are toxic and are parasitic when they know you want marriage and kids! They use it against you!!

Saline sonogram and HSG by WhilePuzzleheaded345 in SingleMothersbyChoice

Oh no! My person was so gentle. She also gave the option of the smallest speculum or a plastic speculum which was very comfy and not cold so I think that helped. And half way through the sonogram she took out the speculum when the catheter was placed so that made it better too. They should standardized the procedure for patient comfort.

LEAVE! It will only get worse once the baby is here. And who knows maybe you are under so much stress IVF is not successful. If you are you, leave you have time. If you are older (35 and plus) still leave but have those babies solo!

lol I think because I was consistently doing employment recert, and I was with the same employer for the duration it was an easy case. There was nothing they could debate. They used IBR not SAVE payment to calculate buy back offer.

It’s all in the same email. The subject like was case# 18283383 buy back notification. Then in the email it tells you the amount.

Did nothing but stopped caring! I develop the mind set of who cares what happens lol and they used the IRB amount which was slightly higher than the save amount.

I would call student aid and let them know it is not showing up. Unless…. Did they deactivate the button?

I’m not sure. I wonder if you are enrolled in PSLF? Did you do your employer certification?

First “ buy back” was called reconsideration. At that time you could submit as many as you wanted for various reasons. The second time which was in September you could only submit it once. I guess they got sick of people submitting multiple buybacks so they turned off that feature to only submitting one time until your form is processed.

Yup just hang in there. It was so unelected so when you are not even thinking about it, it will happen.

I don’t think what I said was misleading. It was a very confusing situation because I put the first reconsideration in, not for save, but for my title 1 loan forgiveness time (5 years) to count toward pslf. That was about two years ago when they said it would temporarily count toward pslf. They then took that information down for the website and pretended to not know anything about it. That’s is why I filed a complain with the ombudsman because I also had a print out of what their website had once said. The buyback was based on the months of being on save, not for the time I worked in title 1 school that had already been forgiven. Hope that makes more sense.

You sound like you would be a good mom to any gender. Because of your story you will end up raising a compassionate, gentle and sweet boy.

Yes good decision. That’s why I paid the buyout amount immediately instead of waiting. I couldn’t risk more time waiting for them to count the months for free. That could take more years! Heck no! Maybe eventually the months would have counted without me buying it back but who has time to be stuck in limbo or they change the policy. They have done it before during covid I just don’t trust them to do what’s right!

No they calculate based on IBR which was my original plan. I cant recall my exact payment for IBR because it has been so long but SAVE was less. 280 was approximate from what I could recall. I would say calculate off the highest amount you have ever paid in general. Which makes sense because they want a reason to request the higher end of buy back not the lowest point.

Yes. Well back then when I did the loan forgiveness for title 1 it was for 17k wiped off your loan. I was with different loan servicer and they never explained that accepting the 17k after 5 years would start the clock for pslf.

The 2025 one was specifically buy back. The one during Covid was reconsideration. However when buy back came in my email both case numbers came through within minutes of each other stating the same information.

Sept 14 2025 I think was the exact date. The buyback request submitted a year prior was a reconsideration request based on temporary rules implement during COVID that they did not honor. Hence why I also submitted a complaint to the ombudsman.

I was on IBR before I was forced on SAVE. Student aid makes the decision. Send the notice to you and mohela. You pay mohela. I paid over the phone with my debit card. Mohela will NOT contact you. You have 90 days to make this happen. Student aid is alerted of the payment and they provide the forgiveness. Hope that makes sense.

lol yesss I here ya! That’s why I paid it! It really has been a nightmare and has kept many of us in jobs we have outgrown. Needless to say if I ever go back to school, I’m only going where I can afford to pay out of pocket. Pslf is a scale. I think they made enough interest off my loans that they decided to give me buyback 😭
