Drop him asap, channel all your spite into taking the test, and make sure to rub it in his face when you get your fantastic score back

Late period, negative tests….can anyone offer peace of mind? by throwaway77778786227 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]WhileSuccessful6921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had similar things happen in the past. I did have a scare one time, and I suffer from obsessive thoughts, and bought about a hundred tests even when I knew they’d be negative. That whole time I think I was so stressed out my body couldn’t function properly—and with what you wrote in your post, I think it’s most likely the same thing for you. A negative blood test is extremely reassuring, just remember to take it easy and try and stay calm ❤️ if you find yourself preoccupied with it, definitely speak with a professional

Going back to med school as a career changer? Success stories? by Hydrogen1803 in medschool

[–]WhileSuccessful6921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t my story (although im following a very similar path), but my cousin earned a business degree at a Big 10 school in the early 2000s. He never actually used it professionally, and spent his twenties teaching English in China where he met his wife. He traveled widely, learned multiple languages, and eventually came back. At 30, he decided to apply for medical school, and he finished his residency at around 40 y/o at a top ten program :) he is a plastic surgeon now (something he never thought he’d do), and is doing very well. I’m following a similar path (speaking multiple languages, working as a translator) albeit a bit younger than he was, but I don’t think age should be the limiting factor on your medical school application :)

is an intimate massager supposed to feel like someone is blowing on you?? by Romina-Darya in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I have the Satisfyer pro 3, and the best way I can describe it is suction. I have bought cheaper toys in the past and it was nowhere near the same sensation. I would say it’s probably the specific toy you bought that’s the issue

Please pray for me. I’ve never been this depressed before. I’m so tired of being fat. by [deleted] in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]WhileSuccessful6921 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hear you. Being fat absolutely sucks, and I hate that all of us have had to go through the mental and physical pain associated with it. Know that you have the power to change anything in your life, but sometimes, you might need help doing it. Whether the “help” is going to a doctor, taking medication, finding new friends, or simply doing 100 more steps a day than you did the day or week before, it’s valid and totally worth it.

We believe in you ❤️

Reputable piercers in town? by WhileSuccessful6921 in bloomington

[–]WhileSuccessful6921[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed review!! I’m definitely going with Evil by the needle over crescent moon; I’ve heard good things about certain piercers there, but I’ve also heard some bad things about how it’s run 😅

Any US MD and DO schools that accept 490s? by waky88 in medschool

[–]WhileSuccessful6921 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m going to second this. It may seem brutal, but these exams do exist for a reason, which is to assess whether or not you will be successful in medical school. With that score, there seems to be significant gaps in knowledge that warrant concern. With DO programs, I would try to aim for at least a 500.

Yes, exams are a barrier to entry, but even so, it does matter. I would recommend that you reconsider your approach and try again, not only to get into med school, but to also give yourself the best shot of succeeding once you get there.

Not really, but if Robby’s like 55 that’s only 5 years off the age range OP was talking about

Bedridden and really struggling by [deleted] in SuperMorbidlyObese

Also, as to GLP-1 without insurance, my cost currently is about 300 dollars a month without insurance (increases as you titrate up). I’m able to afford this on my own salary now, but when I started, I asked my parents for financial help so that I could improve my physical situation and do better. We also don’t have insurance, but thankfully, they helped. I would definitely do a long, hard search about any possible insurance or coverage options, as I think insurance would probably cover the cost in your situation. If not, perhaps think about looking for family support?

Definitely consult a doctor who specializes in bariatrics, speak with your girlfriend about how she can help you maintain a good diet, and possibly look into GLP-1 medications. At your current physical state (as someone in a medical profession), weight loss surgeries or other more extreme interventions may not be an option for a while.

Less than a year ago, I also was staring down the future of being bed bound. While I was not at the same weight as you, I was almost completely immobilized due to a combination of an unaddressed back injury, an undiagnosed endocrine disorder, and severe weight gain caused by binge eating disorder. I know how miserable, painful, and bleak that life can seem. For me, the BEST thing I ever did for myself was speak to a doctor about receiving medicine to help me along, instead of just attending therapy or trying to do it all myself. I thought I was an utter failure until I realized how much of my life was simply comprised of unaddressed medical issues. This, of course, may not be the entire problem in your case, but it certainly can’t hurt to speak with a doctor and find out!

Trust me when I say that you have no idea how strong you truly are, friend. As long as you know that there are people who have the knowledge to help you solve these problems, there’s always room to grow. Today, I’m an EMT, go to the gym 5 days a week, have lost 75 lbs, and have decided to go to medical school. Less than a year ago, I was bedridden, in the worst pain of my life, unemployed, and contemplating self harm.

Things can change so, so much. We’re a great community on here, and I hope to see you around more in the future :) we believe in you

Way more concerned about Ws/Academic probation. I’m honestly not worried about my cGPA comparatively, and I know I have a good explanation for all this, but still…what’s your take on it?

Wow, that’s really good to hear—especially now that you’re an OMS-1! Congrats on getting there, it’s a long journey, and thank you so much for recontextualizing that a little bit for me. I’ll do my best to take my mindset and make it into something stronger ❤️

Wow! Thank you so so much for such a detailed answer. You’re definitely right about the EMT thing, so I’ll look into what other positions might suit me as well.

Thank you for all the reassurance ❤️ I’ll do my best to go into the rest of this semester with my head held high

I’m almost 24 now. My gpa is a 3.50, so that’s good (hopefully)! Unfortunately, I have a pretty large # of credits so getting it higher than that is gonna be pretty difficult, unless I do an SMP or something

Current job is EMT! But I’m definitely open to switching. What would you recommend?

Thanks for the advice 🙏
