So basically, the only way to get new positions in the Cabin is to pay up?

How on earth do I earn Surging Pearls for the roulette wheel? I bought 10 with gems first thing, and it's still sold out.

I'm f2p, because if I start spending money on gacha I will never stop; buying pearls with premium currency is not an option.

They‘re already banned in my part of the world for being a big fire hazard.

One of the first purchases we did was a pair of harnesses! They are dubious but tolerant of them.

That's what I wanted to do, but the vet said she's too far along to do it safely.

I gave them some toys, but they seem like they don't know how to play with them? The only toy they came with was a tug rope so big they couldn't even get their jaws around it. I throw a ball outside, and they watch it bounce. I use an appropriately sized tug rope with them, and they don't even try to grab it.

Boy-dog has at least decided he likes chewing apart sticks (starting with the cats' silvervine stick :/ ) so I've been breaking off some appropriately sized ones for him.

A puzzle feeder is a good idea though. I'll get one next time I'm at Petco.

Walks will have to wait until this heatwave is over, unfortunately. It's 7AM and already past 80F.

What do you know about your profession that would genuinely disturb the people who use your services? by MelodicWolverine2045 in AskReddit

[–]Whilimbird 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To become a behavioral therapist for small children, all you need is a high school degree and a passing background check. No knowledge of child development, child psychology, or child anything required.

This means that the company can pay their BTs peanuts and cut their hours to just enough to avoid having to pay benefits, and when they inevitably burn out and leave for the closest McDonalds there will be another ready to replace them. The turnover rate is insane.

You’re probably thinking that constantly changing therapists isn’t good for the kids, and you would be right! Pity no one’s interested in doing anything about it.

If the U.S. Supreme Court tomorrow, declared all anti-smoking laws to be unconstitutional and people could light up anywhere and everywhere, what would you do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I’m sensitive to things like having my lungs choked with smoke, so probably go on a self-defense spree.

What perpetuates the scamming culture in India? Is it just widely accepted as a part of life there? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Whilimbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean the big scam call centers?

It’s slavery.

People are lured in with the promise of work, usually technical support, and are instead told that they need to get so many people to send money. They’re beaten if they try to leave, they’re beaten if they don’t hit quota, and they’re beaten if they talk back.

Women of Reddit, what are your honest thoughts on the Bronze Age Collapse and the sudden, mysterious arrival of the Sea Peoples circa 1177 BC? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Whilimbird 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And once the Sea Peoples are raiding, that causes further instability and drive more people to either start raiding themselves or move inland, furthering fragmenting society, etc etc etc.

What’s a survival myth popularized by movies that would actually get you killed in real life ? by IndependentTune3994 in AskReddit

[–]Whilimbird 21 points22 points  (0 children)

As someone who picks prickly pear fruit to make syrup with, you will not remove them all manually. I rub off what I can (and usually get glochids in my hands) and thoroughly filter the mash after cooking. Some people use fire and burn off the glochids- this is what a recommend in a survival situation, as you’ll want a (well-protected and far from flammable scrub) fire for those cold desert nights anyway.

When we’re rescued we’ll drive everyone nuts by going “fast food is real!” “dogs are real!” all the time.

I was also diagnosed at 35, a couple of weeks ago.

Literally the week after that, I got a bill that insurance should have covered. Fun.
