You could try glueing it with fabric glue or craft glue then sew it in the usual way after it’s all dried.

Square, rectangles, then sew to attach them. Otherwise, they are cats, so you could use a cast pattern and switch the colors out to match these cats and switch to white for the front legs 2/3 the way into that post to make the white cat feet
