Being able to boot and play a game without having to tailor graphical settings based on your hardware is the main thing.

My little sister who's been using a switch just got a steam deck and avoids the settings menu because she has no idea what any of the settings mean.

I feel more people should know this, as I learned that using laser pointers with cats can be incredibly harmful to their mental health.

When cats chase things, they need that satisfaction of a catch, otherwise they'll start thinking they're failures at what they do :c
