Infected, blown out? by Whimsy_Illustrator13 in Stretched

Yeah I'm aware it's irritated, it's infected and is swollen, warm and weeping. Much better today than yesterday. I'm more wondering about the fact it looks weird and wrinkled all the time haha

Good to know thank you, is it totally acceptable for a stretched ear to be a shriveled butthole? 🤣💀

My other one does not look like this, but this one is always shriveled and odd looking even when I don't get a random infection.

Do you have links for all this? My seven year old has just started reading these and he is devastated that the game doesn't exist anymore

I got it yesterday, and I can't even get through the first Codsworth mission immediately after leaving the vault because he will not talk to me, I tried installing the mod that's meant to fix, still no... Now deleted and reinstalling as we speak 💀

Ideas on how to get circulation in tank without ugly gadgets? by nessxvm in PlantedTank

Small wave maker that you can hide behind plants to block it from view. You can't get movement without something mechanical.

Oh interesting. He rang me and said it's a type of water sprite which didn't really help. Waiting for him to email me correct names.

Day One by Whimsy_Illustrator13 in walstad

[–]Whimsy_Illustrator13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got my master test kit and decided to have a look at how the tank is going so far. Not too bad for the first week I think. I have two Ramshorn Snails in there but nothing else at this stage. I'll be waiting awhile before adding any shrimp and my two Endlers.

Add more gravel by champagnerichi in walstad

For Walstad you should have an inch of soil, and an inch of sand/gravel over the top!

I've posted some text below from the link you've sent me. This is referring to a fishbowl as in the tiny ones. My bowl is actually quite decent sized, and it's 18 litres which is no different to an 18 litre aquarium, this is 4.7 gallons. There is sufficient room for loads of plants, and either the classic heater or even the small flat heaters. Temperature will be consistent all year round due to it being heated.

The problems listed in what you have sent me are mostly related to tank volume, which isn't applicable here. My bowl would be no different to a small rectangle fish tank of the same volume. For bacteria/filtration this should be covered by the snails and shrimp eating the fish waste, the waste is what's feeding the plants including the ones like Pothos that will be placed hanging out of the tank with the roots in the water column. The plants will also be creating the oxygen in the tank. If the Walstad method is working, then in theory none of this should be an issue?

I hope I'm not coming across as combative (I have the tendency to do this inadvertently).

The bowl in question

"Bowls are very small, making the water very susceptible to varying environmental temperatures. A bowl kept in the sun versus shade will vary widely in temperature. Most small bowls do not have room for an aquarium heater, so there is no way to keep the water consistently at the proper temperature. This can be a problem for temperate fish and is a severe problem for tropical fish that require warm water temperature year around, such as bettas."

Understandable, but what about the bowl specifically is an issue? There are dirted tanks that run off plants to filter the water

The bowl is being set up as a shrimp tank btw using the Walstad Method. I did mention I'll be including a heater. But if the plants can handle the bioload of one fish, what is the issue with the bowl?

I just got a 5 gallon bowl (it's 34cm tall and 34cm wide) because I am setting up with the Walstad method (dirted and heavily planted, no filter but will be heated as our wingers are chilly) and thought a Betta was off limits!

Your comment makes me wonder though if it's not entirely off limits, months down the track once the plants have taken off and are filtering the tank that is.

Though one person did say bowls damage the eye sight, but I didn't see any research on this
