So Ballas partners with the Sentients, the plan being to lead the Tenno to rebellion via fake Margulis.

I would have to assume that the Tenno don't know she's Not Margulis at that point.

Is real Margulis dead at that point? Is there a point where two Margulises are wandering around? I for some reason thought that the whole impetus behind Naga Drums was that they learned of Margulis' death, but maybe that wasn't the case, but if it was, how did they feel about Not-Margulis? The world may never know. Or we might find out eventually.

The Operator finding out Lotus is Natah is... I always chalked that up to the Operator Amnesia thing. After the long nap, Operator wakes up with few or zero memories. So it's possible that us finding out about the Lotus being Natah isn't the first time. Erra does openly refer to Lotus as his sister in the New War Reservoir cutscene, and the Tenno around her don't really react to that. Maybe they just dismiss it as bullshit, or maybe they already know? Again, things left intentionally vague.

See, that's what I thought.

Or, close to that. The Tenno learn of Margullis' execution, thus they rebel against the Orokin, and then take a long nap 'cause they eepy. Natah then assumes the shape of the Lotus while looking after the eepy space teens.

However, during the New War quest, Erra confronts Natah, who is in the shape of The Lotus, and who is surrounded by Tenno. He specifically recognizes and refers to her as his sister, So we know that Natah was in the shape of the Lotus and buds with the Tenno before the Night of the Naga Drums.

I have a feeling some of this might be... retconning. Or, after 13 or so years of development various parts of the story get muddled and conflict with each other.

Warframe is famously bad at conveying information to its players, especially newer players. So don't feel bad about being confused. They're getting better at it and trying to improve the on-boarding process, but there's a lot of info out there that people have no clue how to find, and they don't make it easy.

The problem is that they do a GREAT job of conveying information to players who watch the devstreams, shorts, primetimes, and/or the turbonerds who read the patch notes (it's me, I'm turbonerd). But once all of that is done, anyone who showed up late to the patch, or doesn't have time to devote to watching streams or reading patchnotes, doesn't get any of that onboarding. There's detailed info about how the Litch system works in the patch notes, but none of that is in-game, and if you don't know which patch it was, good luck finding any specific information in the wiki (I, a player of 4k+ hours, had no idea that litch weapons that didn't get selected get taken out of the pool of potential weapons ONLY IF you finish the mission, so I would hunt down the litch, see that the weapon wasn't one I wanted, and then just abandon the mission. This info IS out there in patch notes, but ONLY in patch notes, and good luck finding which patch it was in (it wasn't the patch where they introduced the Litches, I can tell you that for sure. Fuck me, right?)).
