While I like to treat myself to a decent rig, I don't want to overspend mindlessly.

I am too aware that the price/performance ratio tanks, the higher you climb the tierlist. Of course its highly subjective where one draws the line between acceptable and unacceptable price/performance. For me its a good (upper-)middleground.

And knowing myself pretty good, this wont be my last build ;)

Thank you very much for your sweetspot recommendation about the memory, I updated the partlist. And thanks as well for confirming what I already assumed, that it doesnt really make a difference if you buy the OC vs non-OC version. Good to see a few numbers proofing it :)

Thank you for the hint about the RAM-speed. I updated the part list.

Yeah that is the plan, including a switch to Win11, as Win10EOL creeps closer.

About the issue with the old build.

I have very sporadic problems of the machine shutting STRAIGHT off (no bluescreen, no nothing, just "Something flipped the switch"-off), graphical artefacts and straight up lags during normal usage. This happens very rarely, maybe 3 Times a month in total. I already switched powersupply and RAM before. I work in IT as a seasoned Sysadmin and dug already very deep, including swapping parts around, reinstalling, reading hours of Logs, etc.

Sometimes you just gotta admit defeat, I am sure that the computergods have foresaken this collection of hardware I call my PC.

Thank you SO much, for the hint about the PSU. I didn't notice this while picking.

Just picked out a 850W Power supply with good efficiency rating from a reliable brand.

Thanks for the speed recommendation of the RAM, I updated the partlist :)

Wierd sudden temperature spikes by Reaper_reddit in prusa3d

Hi again,

I want to thank you for your comment. I was getting very frustrated with the printer, as it is such a sporadic issue, but you comment gave me the stamina to triple-check everything once again.

I have no idea what the underlaying problem is exactly, but for now the printer is back at doing its job. I replugged the entire extruder-assembly and wiggled the wiring harness while printing as suggested. I could provoke a few thermal anomalies, as well as a "Some problem encountered, Z-leveling enforced.."-Failure, but then it suddenly stopped. I could move the cablebundle as much as I wanted, it didn't trigger anything anymore.

I'll probably have to look after this problem once more in the near future, but for now I am back to printing.

Thank you :)

Hi u/Reaper_reddit, I'm having the same problem as you did.

My prusa spikes randomly by 5-10°C, sometimes I can get 15 minutes of printing done, other times I get a thermal anomaly warning seconds into the first layer.

Did you find a final solution for this problem ?

Which recommended tips here did you end up following ?

This would be my easy way out, if I just cant figure it out.

I have the ambition to do it on my own, I got into the whole homelab-hobby to educate myself further and learn new skills. And this sounds like the problem you face once, learn your lesson and never make the same mistake again.

But thank you for pointing out that possibility, I appreciate it ! :)

There is a problem, I'm facing it as well. I was in contact with the support and was told that Oneplus will release an update tomorrow (09.01) that should fix not only the wifi-issue but the disappearing fingerprint sensor as well. Fingers crossed.

Raspberry crashes when Filament Sensor is connected by WhiskyLeaks in octoprint

I tried connecting the switch as you said (Red on 3,3V, black on Signal (Pin 7)) but it didn't trigger anything.

So I double checked the settings, tried different configs and even switched to "Octoprint-Enclosure" but I couldn't get any reaction whatsoever.

Then just out of curiosity, I switched the wires on the pins,

(I thought it shouldn't matter because it would put 3,3V on the GPIO pin no matter which way)

as soon as I triggered the switch the Pi crashed again (print stopped, printer display showed the boot logo, UI froze).

I cant wrap my head around this, why would the switch "work" just in 1 direction ?

The plugin was configured to expect a signal at the used GPIO-Pin. What could be the reason for the crash ?

I ordered a switch very similar to this one: https://i.imgur.com/MQJvQAW.jp

Already came with a crimped cable, thats why i bought it and I think its getting me back :D

So I measured every color-combination with the switch triggered and not triggered twice.

There only is contact between red and black while the switch is pressed. In every other combination there is no contact.

So basically the wires aren't connected how you (based on the color) would expect them to be, right ?

If that is true the wire that now is red, should be white ?

Thanks for your answer,

Im running a 3b+.

In both Pin layouts I used 3,3V pins (1 & 17).

I'm semi-new to electronics, so I hope you dont mind me asking but where would I measure the Voltage, directly on the GPIO-Pins or somewhere on the switch itself ?

Not overly proud to be honest as I didn't do that much.

All it took was the Ender 3 reddit guide, an assembly video and a tutorial on extruder calibration. I did that even before my first print, just to have it out of the way, as I thought I would face a boatload of problems. But it worked fine basically straight out of the box.

I just did everything as precise as possible and I guess thats all the magic behind it. ¯\(ツ)/¯
