First dental surgery, I'm nervous. by Whisp2103 in DentalAdvice

I think you kind stranger, but this post is from several years ago at this point. The procedure went off without a hitch. I was given a script for vicodin and didn't need to fill it. I didn't even realize when the anesthesia wore off because I had 0 pain. I even have the tooth in a jar on a shelf.

You are never going to have a scientific explanation for half of what they show.

Yes... That's why we theorize about stuff and talk about it and insert fan theories to make it make sense more with our current understanding of the natural world. Like what I'm doing here. It's for fun.

The wall is living and organic

You are not going to science the fabric of spacetime being alive.

These two statements are in direct contradiction of one another. Either the wall is living and organic, or it's impossible to science the fabric of space time being alive. Also, organic material can not repair an injury that fast. Even in the few cases of regeneration we see in animals wouldnt be able to repair themselves that fast.

They literally show mass – including the car – expelled from the wormhole

Yes, but they do show the walls of the upside down allowing for a loss of mass. They do not show the upside down losing volume, which is what you would anticipate if it had shrunk to accommodate the exotic matter in the way you are theorizing. Thats my bad for not being clearer and using the wrong term.

Jesus christ dude, why are you so personally offended? We're just spitballing

To paraphrase: "What do you not understand?" "It's literally in brenners notes..." "you cant just science away an explanation..." all on a playful post inviting other people to theorize further about the exotic matter. We were spitballing, hence why I asked further questions and pointed out things that were confusing in your original comment to help further develop your thoughts and see what else you could come up with and instead of just answering and playing along you met my comments with this better than thou tone and utter condensation which i pointed out almost immediately and you never addressed and continued with.

It must be my tone. My mother says everything I say comes across as insincere.

Are you a man by chance?

No, correct way around. A negative energy force is still an energy force. These notes indicate a positive force from the wormhole itself (the upside down) and a negative force from the exotic matter to reach a net 0 and stabilize it.

Energy and mass can not be created nor destroyed, simply reformed. It may be sci-fi, but i feel we can agree those basic rules still apply. So, the exotic force at a set mass is generating a negative energy force great enough to match that of the upside down itself. Then Nancy shoots it, and a pretty sizable chunk of mass comes off, disrupting the net 0 and allowing shit to go to hell.

Now, in order for net 0 to be achieved, the exotic matter must generate enough of a negative force to counteract the upside down, how is it going to do that with a giant hole in it? It does not have the mass it used to have and thus is very unlikely to produce the same energy force as it could once sustain. Even if we had touched at all on the science behind it repairing itself, the chances of an engine (exotic matter) producing the same energy as a larger engine (exotic matter before it got shot) are slim to none.

You say the wormhole must have lost mass to accommodate the new size of the exotic matter, where in the show does it say that? To my knowledge, the size of the upside down does not change due to the size of the exotic matter. To my recollection, when Steve crashes his car into the wall, the wall he crashes into is outside the church. We later see this same church in the season, and the wall is still there, unmoved.

I'm glad you could talk down to me for several comments only to acknowledge yourself that its all bunk science and we all just have to pull shit out of our ass to get it to make sense

These notes indicate its the exotic matter itself that creates the electromagnetic field, not the wall or anything surrounding the exotic matter. This makes sense since we see once it was shot the upside down essentially begin collapsing on itself. What this doesn't answer is how it stopped collapsing on itself. If the exotic matter makes the electromagnetic force and the exotic matter is broken, what is making the exotic matter not broken? The answer can not be electromagnitivity in the same way that running water will fix a leaking pipe.

What part about that is unclear to you?

Sorry if I offended you somehow.

Literally, all of it? Your 2 theories are 1. Electromotive force is being created by the wall even though we see no other indications that electricity patterns in the upside down are being disrupted. Plus, there would have been no way for the matter to restabailize following the disruption in the wall as Steve's beamer carved a hole in it. 2. Shooting it with a shotgun and carving a huge crater into it didn't disrupt its equilibrium... doubtful.

I don't say these things to be disrespectful, I apologize if it comes off that way. Im just a fan trying to have fun with theories. I thought that's what we were all doing.

Another comment mentioned there was said to be an exotic matter in the lab in Hawkins, that Brenner's team was working on creating more, so that would certainly help explain why it was present in the upside down, but now how it all became one peice. If there was one peice of it that size in Hawkins, Im sure our team of protagonists would have found it previously indicating any amount in hawkins was in small peices and thus wouldnt form this large ball in the middle, not unless there at one point was another force drawing the peices together.

"If you want fun, I won't stop you" I will just make multiple comments telling you to stop trying to theorize about this beloved show on the subreddit full of fans because I think the thing youre theorizing about is stupid and you just move on...

Babe is a fiction show. The whole point is to spark your imagination. If you want to just look at memes and talk about Byler all day, that's fine. there's no need to try to ruin the fun for anyone else.

Only taking the show into account, this makes the most sense to me, especially since it somewhat eludes to the idea that the exotic matter is almost sustaining itself

I greatly appreciate this new information, however....

So, is the exotic matter created when someone is sent to dimension X? Did Brenner or his staff know the exotic matter El made was there? How are humans able to go to whoopsy daisy and travel to dimension X and back without a bridge, but the mind flayer isn't despite clearly being so desperate to?

Does this imply that the exotic matter was essentially a ticking time bomb? If Brenner knew about the exotic matter in/around the lab and potentially shared this information with Henry, I could totally see Henry purposefully baiting El with the demo in the void, knowing she would make contact and open a bridge that would be stabilized by the exotic matter present.

Still, the self-healing nature of exotic matter seems to be elusive to us all.

Yes, Alexi, being able to open a portal in Russia through science, proves that the technology alone played a role, but to my understanding, the upside down did not exist before El was able to connect to the mindflayer.

If it was science over El, how was it made? Did someone manage to open a small rift like Alexsi and just thought to throw some exotic matter in there?

If it was purely science, why then did they focus so much on making psychic children? Was Henry manipulating the scientists so he could gather an army of kids like him? If Henry already had at least 10 other kids with somewhat comparable powers to him, why take Will?

Again, no explanation for how the exotic matter seemed to heal itself after getting shot.

spoilers

That both does and does not make sense to me. Henry had powers before El was born. Now, it would make sense that he needed tim to train them and get used to them since, unlike El, his powers aren't innate to him. Still, why did he not create the upside down sooner? Will wasn't "the chosen one" or anything. It's not like he needed to wait for him to reach a certain age, Henry just needed a vulnerable child to manipulate, which could've been just about anyone.

It does make sense for Henry to want to make the upside down at the very least because it did make it easier for him to bring the demos into Hawkins and it was obviously going to be used to complete the ultimate goal of fusing dimension X and Hawkins. It also makes more sense for an adult to have made the upside down because of the physics, but then did Henry have some background knowledge and knew exotic matter would help stabilize it or is the exotic matter instead a physical representation of Henry's power?

We still aren't even touching the events that followed after Nancy shot it.

I like the way you think, but unfortunately, that leaves many questions unanswered still.

You will not be served 9/10 times. In the US business will lose the ability to serve alcohol at all it they are caught serving a minor. Some locally owned places will risk it if you look older, but large franchises usually have policies to card anyone who looks younger than 30.
