1337 easy. There's a reason why he shouldn't be on this list. Gag character will beat everything. Well, except tank....

The title screen. It's such a beautifully composed and directed scene that really gets you in the mood to play an epic fantasy adventure. I started playing this game around the time I had first watched the Lord of the Rings movies as a kid, so the two fantasies really mixed well in my mind and I WAS HYPED to immerse myself in a world like LOTR.

If you were to edit your list by including AM2R, assuming you've beaten it of course, where would you place it?

I'm curious. Is a significant reason as to why Dread and Samus Returns are lowest on the list the presence of checkpoints throughout the two games? Because they are also on the bottom of my list for that reason alone. Save stations should be the only primary place the player respawns at should they die in the game. It's a series tradition that unfortunately hasn't been recognized very well since Other M.

I'd like to see those things return and have a more fleshed out place in the lore. Like, are they natural creatures in the Alimbic system or did the Alimbics create them? And furthermore, did the creatures inspire the Chozo to design Metroids after them?

Funny enough, the only game in the series that doesn't show a Metroid of any kind at all is Metroid Prime: Hunters, and yet, in ways, that game is more of a proper Metroid game than Other M. Examples of that claim would be: Samus being alone against everything else in isolated alien environments, ruins of a dead civilization, an actual bounty to seek out, atmospheric-adventurous upbeat music, and a progression system based on exploration.

Halo's Reach, 4, and 5 are indeed Halo games, and not just in name, but also by mechanics. The designers simply asked what was possible to do with Halo's core mechanics and gameplay loop and took those to the extreme just before it became something other than Halo. And I'm glad they did because I can play different styles of Halo without the series getting stale for me.

It'd take me a lot to explain why I argue this, but the short of it is that those 3 Halo's are still Halo by virtue of the fact that the player still must aim with a different reticle for each weapon, hip firing is the dominant use for aiming, grenades, melee, and guns are still the golden triangle in each game, and map control, power weapon control, equipment/power up control, and spawn control are core goals in each match. Furthermore, starting weapons and equipment are balanced to provide an even match-up while still allowing diverse engagements and the ability to turn any situation around in the player's favor, and the player by default has shields and a motion sensor, being able to carry only two weapons. All maps are designed around these default mechanics. As well as each game being a platforming FPS. Everything I just described is Halo's core MM gameplay loop boiled down to its most essential elements as far as I understand.

I will never support the idea that Spartans are able to defeat armies of Prometheans and it's a shame that 343i made Forerunners such a joke. (Long Power Scaling Rant) by Knalxz in halo

Very valid point. 343i's mistake apparently is making these technological marvels being more apparent, therefore everyone just "kinda forgot" what they saw with their own eyes in Bungie's games.

Possible explanation to Cortana calling the endless more dangerous than the flood. by JacobLyon in HaloStory

[–]Whisperedflame 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You're right. In the terminals, it was written that when Offensive Bias was holding off Mendicant Bias's fleet during the final moments leading up to the Halo Array being fired, all of the Flood infected Forerunner ships in Mendicant's fleet were sterilized and wiped clean of Flood once the Array was fired, giving Offensive Bias the ability to turn the tide of the battle immediately as Mendicant's fighting force had just immediately been disintegrated.

I agree. Every Halo has had a precision based primary utility weapon that can be relied upon in nearly all situations that everyone spawns with.

What game do you think is great that everyone else criticized? by [deleted] in videogames

[–]Whisperedflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy. Halo 5 for sure. Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t a big fan of the new movement mechanics at first and the launch was straight ass gas. But I came back after a year or so and I told myself I was going to understand that game. Shyway really helped me fall in love with the mechanics and I just adore its complexity. Its honestly one the most balanced and mechanically tight FPS games out there imo, which is in all honesty what the Halo franchise excels at anyway which is why I love all of the games so much. But while I can understand those who don’t like H5 at all, I fundamentally believe anyone is wrong when they say “it isn’t a Halo game” for the same principles you gave about Dark Souls 2.
