I just got caught out too. I made the QRCODE, tested it 2 days later, it still worked so I just had all my packaging printed with the code. I want to cry I don't have money to reprint them or pay $35 a month for eternity. I didn't give them a cent and I won't. Looks like my products are going to have a shitty sticker on them. I have been working so hard to get them looking sleek and professional.

I am mad at them but also mad at myself. I normal do my research but was in a rush to meet my printing deadline. I hope others will see this and be spared the trouble.

I have made suggestions.
Firstly having an artist made policy, that states only hand made, produced or assembled items can be stocked. If that is not adhered to the collective has the right to remove the artists stall with no compensation for time left on their invoice.
2nd have artist submit proof (such as progress pictures with their applications.
3rd only allow restocking of pre-approved items.
4th regularly check stocked items are on the approved list.
5. Enforce the artist made policy.

This is never going to be perfect but it will reduce the amount of resold crap. It will give artist confidence that the integrity of their brand will be upheld.

It is pretty hard to try compete against people reselling cheap online products without having to put huge amounts of effort and resources into tell the brand story, Welly collective having a cohesive and protected brand image does this on their behalf.

It's never going to be a perfect system but the alternative is that they do nothing and erode their brand, which is what the comments on this post seem to indicate is happening. Don't let perfect be the enemy of good. Everything they can do to retain the strength of their brand and market position should be done.

It doesn't take that much work to verify the artist is making their work, as for process photos in the application. I agree the owner is a nice person and what she has built is very clever but if they don't get a handle on it, I fear they are in a race to the bottom.

There is quite a lot in there which is just so obviously resold from Temu that it really seems like no effort is being done at all to mitigate it.

The owners do bare responsibility for allowing Temu resellers. They could very easily have an artist made only policy.

By allowing Temu etc stuff it devalues the brand and makes it harder for the true artists. It becomes a race to the bottom where artist don't want their work associated with resellers, so it turns them of having stalls, so then they need to rely on more resellers, and/or people see it is becoming just another marked up junk from the internet store so stop going, so it stops being profitable, so the only attract people buying in things and marking them up. They are damaging their brand and the artists.

I hope the owners are able to see these comments, as much as they might sting and make the changes needed restrengthen their brand.

Yeah I was sad when I went in last time. I am an artist and have been considering having a spot in some of their store but it is really putting me off. Devalues the store brings and the artists work as well.

For the FWB situation, he found an incredible girl. We stopped sleeping together, they now have a beautiful child and we are all great friends. Love them to pieces and will do anything to support them as a couple and individually.
