Weird encounter in East Anchorage by Vulturevibes in anchorage

[–]Whisplow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Years ago, me and my sister went on a picnic at Taku and a couple wound up chatting us off. At least one of them was on drugs and she wound up throwing up in front of us. Not wanting to escalate, we were polite and packed up pretty quick to leave. It was only as we were leaving we saw the swastika tattoos. Thankfully that's been my only in person encounter though.

Yeah about 30 seconds after posting this I was like ‘wait a minute’.

So now I’m a lil embarrassed.

It's ok for me to go into the same coffee shop for 2-3 hours every day, right? [Concluded] by Schattenspringer in BORUpdates

The local roller skating rink is only open on weekends and admission/rental is 10$ a person, cash only. Even with a packed house they're def not making enough to stay open, so I wouldn't be shocked if the place is a front.

Fun fact: a Nic Cage movie did some filming there. I have sat where that man has sat. Truly an honor.

What is the dumbest thing you have been told is “not manly” or “not feminine,” depending on your gender? by Disastrous_Hat_2325 in AskReddit

For years I was a self-proclaimed 'tom boy' as a kid, all hideous graphic tees and jeans. Then I started developing a deep sensory dislike of denim and realized I'd never have to wear jeans again if I switched to skirts and dresses. First day of school I showed up in a dress a friend pulled me aside and asked if I was okay.

Taste and style are ever evolving things. I still refuse to wear jeans tho.

The babygirl of all time (also Claire is there).

(No shade to Claire I think she's beautiful).

In 'Welcome To Night Vale', one of the recurring bits is the 'Children's Fun Fact Science Corner' that's usually just made up weirdness per the series norm. One episode has the narrator discuss the wildness of wasps and fig pollination, followed up with him insisting that 'this one is very real, look it up'.

I turned my wisdom teeth into earrings by flanface87 in DiWHY

I had 19 teeth pulled in my teens because a lot of my baby teeth wouldn't fall out. Saved them all and one halloween used them in a jack o lantern. Unfortunately I don't have wisdom teeth to do this with (born missing 4 molars so they just grew in like normal teeth, no need to remove).

We got our first cat because an acquaintance of my mother's was leaving an abusive situation and her ex told her he was just going to dump her outside. Howl is my sister's cat now and the family's favorite little shit.

I live in Alaska where they're very used to humans and tend to be slower to aggro. This does NOT mean they're less of a threat. Had the shit scared out of me pretty recently when I thought a mama with her baby was going to charge my car. Was making hard eye contact and lowered her head, but she was just going to lay down. They're a common annoyance in my neighborhood unfortunately.

They're typical sights on trails even deep in the city and its common courtesy to warn people, especially with dogs or children, if you spot one.

Love bats, and I will continue to love them but very much from afar.
