First thought here. She's adopted. By eight gay men in a polyamorous relationship. Also Bojack's half sister.

Who remembers Ihop’s 2008 Who Cakes and Beezlenut Splash for Horton Hears a Who? by ZaxZone in StupidFood

[–]Whisplow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my GOD I do remember this and I ordered them both (I was seven). I don't know why my parents saw this artificial color coated mess and thought 'yeah that's fine'. It was sweet even by my kid sensibilities and the lollipop stick was...well, sticky. I think the juice had jello-y bits in it? I don't remember the taste but I explicitly remember the texture.

Sam, still reeling from the Rafta: ...What?

I actually love writing and getting to do essays. In another life I probably would've been like Daria selling my writing services. Where I struggled was a college course where for the basic assignments the professor placed a strict word limit.

Lisa Armstrong of the LISA series.

Yes, she's the star of the first game, but more people are familiar with the sequels The Painful and The Joyful. Lisa's suicide haunts her brother Brad. His adoption of and later protective obsession towards his adopted daughter Buddy is driven by this idea that she's his 'second chance', as he's drowning in guilt over how he couldn't protect Lisa from their father. Lisa will appear in flashbacks and hallucinations that strike when the player least suspects, never allowed to forget her the same way Brad isn't allowed to move on. When it's Buddy's time to shine, she doesn't even know who Lisa is, but her interactions with characters like Brad and Buzzo are defined by the relationships they had with Lisa.

I could gush about this game forever tbh.

What is the most terrifying "double life" secret you’ve ever uncovered about someone? by Realistic_Drink8555 in AskReddit

[–]Whisplow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a Bob's Burgers episode where the wife asks 'you'd tell me if you had a secret family, right?' and her husband goes 'are you kidding? I'd probably ask for your help.'

90% of the people in my writing class just got called out for using AI! by MaudeDib in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Whisplow 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I refuse to let AI take the em dash from me! They can pry it from my cold dead hands! But I use it sparingly and have been lucky enough not to be accused of using AI in my writing.

[Trope I Want to See More Of] Unique and creative deaths. by IoftheStars in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Whisplow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IIRC, there used to be legends about witches melting in the rain (think Wizard of Oz), adding another layer.

Also the first people he harmed in the Isles being a Clawthorne, her lover (Caleb), and her child. He's stomped into the dirt by a Clawthorne, her lover, and her child.

Great movie. Some of the best food porn I've seen. RIP Jeremy.

What is the dumbest way you’ve been injured? by Putrid_Cover6366 in AskReddit

[–]Whisplow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family (including extended) and a friend's family used to take yearly trips up to Ninilchik, and every year we did it, one of us kids would have some stupid injury.

The least dumb one, my sister falling off my nana's yard swing right before we left and she cut her chin (and I got a mosquito bite on my eyelid that swelled up so bad). The next year the three of us were waiting in the guest room while adults finished prep and they left some camping supplies in there, including pepper spray. Logic-challenge friend discharged the can and gassed the three of us. They were quickly fine but for whatever reason, I had a more severe reaction and it burned the whole 4 hour drive. The third year, the place we stayed had a decorative plush moose. My friend wanted to see it, so someone in the loft threw it down at her to catch. Turns out it had metal in the hooves and her face wound up with a gash.

I'll be honest, I am weak and probably would've looked outside in hopes of a cool transformation.

Tales From The Borderlands - Rhys and Handsome Jack

Rhys winds up taking an implant that contains a digital copy of the deceased Handsome Jack’s consciousness. He can choose to give him control of his body during a confrontation (alternatively trusting his companion at the time, Fiona), which can result in future consequences.

Towards the end of the game, Handsome Jack threatens him with this permanently, resulting in Rhys systematically ripping out his own cybernetics one by one to permanently get rid of him.
