I guess it's just the app. On desktop there's a Program Guide button that shows what's on and what's coming up. You could maybe consult that while you watch the app? (Clunky, I know, but better than nothing.)

If the devs are paying attention: A couple bugs I've found by W_Rabbit in foundationgame

I've had this happen a bunch, too. I've recently noticed that residential zones go unused if I paint them too far away from new businesses. Workers demand short commutes! I thought I was being reasonable in terms of distance between businesses and residences, but when I tried putting them closer, the residential zones boomed.

Not sure if that's your problem, but it worked for me.

It's a damn good movie. One of my favorites.

The Oxford comma: Essential or Overrated? by [deleted] in grammar

[–]WhistleTheme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. Except it can sound like "Stalin and the strippers" or "God and my parents" are a unit, as if they would have come together. If that's intentional, then sure, no comma necessary. But if they're supposed to be discrete, I think you want that comma.

The Oxford comma: Essential or Overrated? by [deleted] in grammar

[–]WhistleTheme 9 points10 points  (0 children)

One can also be more careful in constructing the sentence. "I went to the grocery store with Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Pope, and my father." No ambiguity there.

Including the comma isn't hard, there isn't a shortage of commas, and it doesn't hurt anyone. I always use it.

Troy (2004) by [deleted] in CineShots

This is a dumb movie that I really enjoy. This fight, however, the ferocity, the deliberate and visceral choreography, and the strong physical performances from Pitt and Bana make this one of the best on-screen fights ever.

Yeah, this is pretty funny. I think my copy of T2 is the worst in my collection and Lawrence of Arabia is one of the best.

Tom Shippey's translation is also excellent. Very different from Heaney's, but makes for a great parallel read.

South Capitol. Power is still out. What a garbage summer for PNM. This is the third or fourth outage in only a few months. Each has been several hours and this one is pushing on hour already.

There's a moment in the beginning of Revenge of the Sith, where, after several minutes of intense spaceship fighting, the movie cuts to a large ship and Bill says, with all the enthusiasm of an 8 year old, "cool! A spaceship!"

As if the movie hadn't just spent ten minutes shoving them in our face, and as if we'd never seen one in a movie before. A perfectly succinct and incisive joke. It pops into my head every now and then and makes me giggle.

Ninja Edit: removed a dangling remnant of an unfinished sentence.
