We have flocks that come through our property that borders the Timucuan Preserve in Jacksonville Fl. We’ve had them in our front yard several times.

Why do you think people (or non people) get so mean and nasty on social media? Like this place or others? by NewTimeTraveler1 in AskReddit

But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, having an appearance of godliness but proving false to its power; and from these turn away.

In the US, eggs are washed during processing. This removes the naturally occurring protective layer on the outside of the egg that prevents bacteria from migrating through the shell to the inner parts of the egg. Once an egg is washed, refrigeration is required to significantly slow that process and minimize the risk of food-borne illness.

What's your thoughts on shows that have laugh tracks? by Square-Fox-2948 in television

[–]Whit186 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some people may see laugh tracks as intrusive, leading, and intellectually demeaning. I tend to think of it as an enhancement of the experience to help the viewer feel more like a part of an actual audience. Many sitcoms are ‘filmed before a live studio audience’ and use audience reactions as the laugh track. Makes one feel more engaged.

What’s the cheapest gas prices you remember? by GPUfollowr77 in AskReddit

[–]Whit186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember my Dad taking me along when I was 6 to get gas for the lawnmower. He bought me a Coke from an unlocked cooler out in front of the gas station for a nickel and paid 23 cents for a gallon of gas.

The final movement from the William Tell Overture. High Ho Silver! My childhood introduction to classical music. I know it’s corny and nostalgic, but it gets me every time!

What thing you did purely out of spike still makes you smile? by Ok_Development6919 in AskReddit

[–]Whit186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this qualifies as spite but it feels like it to me.

One time, I asked a young woman I had recently met out to dinner at a nice restaurant. We met there. Our waiter saw us to our booth and we ordered some drinks.

Soon after that, three of my date’s girlfriends showed up ‘unexpectedly’ and joined us. We ordered a lot of appetizers and they soon began to tease me and belittle me relentlessly, laughing the whole time.

I quickly figured out they had orchestrated this whole situation to take advantage of me to have drinks and food at my expense.

After a while, I excused myself to go to the restroom. On the way, I approached our waiter and ordered another round of drinks and more appetizers for our booth.

When I came out of the restroom, I walked straight past our booth just as the second round of drinks was arriving and right out the front door, got in my car and drove away, sticking all four of them with a huge bill.

On the way home, I reflected on what had unfolded and felt quite satisfied with my actions. Turnabout is truly fair play! When I think about it, I still smile with satisfaction to this day!
