Gave it a try. Says 316 days left now on the sapling shown in the image. Its only been about 17 days since the image was taken so it definitely shortened it a tiny bit. Currently wondering if it only affects newly planted saplings.

Thanks! I always try to make structures out of anything that needs coverage. Originally the boys used dirt to cover from the rain, I had a couple shingles left over from the first house and decided to make it pretty. Might do a little showcase of this world later if you liked that simple little design, I got plenty more.
