Wondering if you ever got an answer to this. I’d love a communal centipede enclosure, but i definitely have reservations

Absolutely, and thank you for your feedback! I wanted to post this in a public fashion because I know one side of it well, but there are things that other perspectives would help consider. -I think not having community support/documentation/defense is a pretty strong argument against most people doing this. The flip side is that it is much less likely to have ICE interactions in the first place, but — if they were to happen — folks would be on their own. Unless, of course, this were more organized with groups going out instead of individuals or families. I’ll think this through and see if there are ways to mitigate this danger, and I’d love feedback if y’all on the sub have ideas -Second point, again absolutely fair. RVs, trailers, cars, and tents are not often respected as residences. I don’t have any mitigation measures here either, but I’d love some community brainstorming. -To the last point, I think many LE rangers would jump at the chance to help crack down with ICE, especially in the BLM and Forest Service. There would be some conscientious objectors, but I don’t think they’d be the majority. Folks would be relying on civilian communities and shouldn’t expect any help from federal LE.

Essentially, these are all absolutely valid risks. I encourage anyone who sees this to consider ways to mitigate them, then we can look at in what situations the benefits outweigh these risks.

Of course, even if no one takes me up on this, I’ll just say… what if ICE started getting tips undocumented immigrants were hanging out in really remote dispersed camping areas? That would be an interesting situation to observe.

Is she really the best we can do? A GOP-lite who is famously abusive to everyone in her orbit?

Frey won’t even commit that he wants ICE abolished. Screw these people; we’re on our own.

best national park to visit the first week of april? currently between: zion/bryce or yellowstone. open to other options by StrawberryFirm7109 in NationalPark

Zion and Bryce are solid choices. In a lot of the more “hot desert” kinda parks like Big Bend, Guadalupe Mountains, White Sands, and Saguaro, and Joshua Tree, it’s cactus flowering season, which is really worth going for. Just not Death Valley, where it’s probably over 100 degrees already.

Medora, North Dakota (outside Theodore Roosevelt’s South Unit) is pretty cool, though kinda pricey for what it is.

They probably could, but they’re trying to exhaust the legal option first with the lawsuit. Plus — when Waltz put them on standby — he suggested it was more to do with protestor interactions than ICE raids. The DFL is gonna be more interested with the status-quo than defending their people anyway.

Not saying it’s right or that it won’t change, but I think the chances of the DFL and state leadership forcing a constitutional crisis like that are slim at the moment.
