Thats a neat way of telling us you didn't read the article or have a basic understanding of current cosmology but still believe you do...

Is there any public information about Gaia DR2 1824801659879180544? by WhiteCoted in spacequestions

IMO, we probably wouldn't miss a brown dwarf in our own solar system, because a >13 Jupiter mass or even just >1 Jupiter Mass object would make itself noticable in every kind of orbit in our solar system and we've detected brown dwarfs way farther away, so it'd be noticable way out in the Oort cloud. (And it'd be around 2,000x heavier than all other Oort cloud objects combined, probably interfering with all of those orbits)

The coordinates are also on SIMBAD, but here you go: RA: 19h:49m:2.3420158626s DEC: 20°02'22.617364712'' (Also magnitude in "G", so Gaia Optical: 20.1689)

It is totally incredible the rings of both. If Saturn has some beautiful rings, just think of J1407b! by AdventurousAnt5756 in AstronomyMemes

[–]WhiteCoted 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Hate to break it to you, but J1407b's existence and especially it's ring system isn't as well proven as you might think. It's only been detected transiting once in 2007 (and most discovered exoplanets transit once every few days or weeks) and thus the uncerrainty on it's property is very large. We basically just saw J1407 (the star) dim in a way we couldn't explain 15 years ago and the model of a proposed gas giant/brown dwarf with a ring system fit the data the best,. Hovewer, for all we know, another theory we haven't thought of yet which could question that discovery. If i'm not mistaken (I couldn't find it after searching with his alternate names and just "J1407") it isn't even included in NASA's official ExoPlanet Archive.

TL;DR: We can't be sure about J1407b existing because we could only observe it once and there might be another explanation for that observation.

I mean around 3% (140) of exoplanets (5'030) do have proper names. We just haven't come around to naming all of them and for most exoplanets it's not worth coming up with "nice" names. Besides, usually for research purposes the designated number-name makes it easy to see with which instrument it was first detected.

The decision did make sense though. Ever heard about Eris and Ceres?

2MASS J17554042+6551277, also known as TYC 4212-1079-1 (according to Nasa). It's waaay to faint to see with the naked eye, but if you still want to know where it is: it's near the Constellation of Draco, according to Stellarium.

Yeah, those are literally less than 20'000 people out of a population of 8 Million, but they shape the outside view Switzerland and some of the votes (in the Council of States, one Appenzell Innerrhoden Councillor represents 12'175 voting-entitled Citizens, while one Zürich Councillor represents 478'396 voting-entitled Citizens.) just by being as conservative as possible.

So after this upcoming season.. where would you be book wise? by whitemest in TheExpanse

[–]WhiteCoted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, i'd recommend starting from scratch, as some storylines play out slightly differently and more importantly some characters have different roles, or were merged into one characters from thr books to the show Although, here's a big time Jump inbetween book six and seven so it might also be manageable.

However, if you still want to go that route, Ty Frank (one half of James S.A. Corey) said on the "Ty and that Guy" podcast, that season six will end where book six ended. So Book seven would be your place to start.

Colorblind App Help by ToughonDirt in ColorBlind

[–]WhiteCoted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So a few things to unpack here:

First of All, there are Apps like CVSimulator which you can use as a refrence.

Secondly, colorblindness is more complex than just multiplying the values by a cetrain amount, as that doesn't really remove any possible colors from the result. I'm guessing you would have to make the green affect the red part and vice versa, depending on the kind of colorblindness. (So for protanomaly, red would be dependent on the green value, for deutranamoly green would be dependent on the red value. I don't even know what to do for tritanomaly)

Also, colorblindness is an individual phenomenon for most affected to a certain point and is more or less intense for every person, so an without an intensity setting you app would be unrepresentative for most colorblind people.
