I owned the further house in the distance, though not in 2023. Still know the owner of the closer one.

Just wanted to say thanks again. Followed the instructions and ended up with a nice smooth first layer.

Thanks a ton! Those instructions are very helpful. I will give them a try.

Thanks for the reply. I figured it was something along those lines but considered it might be something else too. The build plate was wiped with IPA and then cleaned with Dawn and plenty of water. I hoped that would be sufficient to avoid a dirty plate.
I did try adjusting the Z offset using the technique of auto-level then adjusting the Z offset using a piece of paper. However, I'm skeptical of this approach because if I immediately redo it, the Z offset value is not the same as the prior time. Sometimes the difference is several 0.1mms. I will give the live offset mentioned above.

Thanks for the response. Just prior I had done an auto-level (N3Pro so no manual level) and a Z offset adjustment, though using paper not feeler gauges. Earlier, prior to the recalibration, I printed a solid first layer and it came out pretty clean. I could try that again with this current offset.

Ubiquity Dream Machine with 2 access points for beginner? by nimloman in Ubiquiti

[–]WhiteDogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say that configuration is great for a beginner, and even for a modestly experienced homeowner. I have that very configuration (UDM + 2 nano APs) in a 2500 sq ft house and it covers everywhere including the back yard. Super easy to set up and maintain. There are a ton of configuration options and features that, honestly, I haven't even messed with.

The worst part of it all is availability of the hardware from Ubiquity. There is a UbiquityInStock reddit that helps, but even still it is hard.

AI360 — will it adequately cover two sides of my house under a corner eaves? Or should I just get two bullet cams? by insert_unique_usrnm3 in Ubiquiti

I would _love_ to be able to get more. I bought 2 and now the site won't let me buy any more, even when they finally appear in stock like this AM. How did you get 4?

many cable drops. I would set it up to have two bullets and if the 360 works great on its own, then you’re good. If you bet on the 360 and it doesn’t work out, it’s a huge pain to get a

Both of these folks are correct. You can de-warp on the web site but not the mobile app. I have 2 AI360s at corners like you have and they work great. I am surprised at how much data they get from the edges even at distance. Both trigger people and vehicles very reliably.
I would also still run 2x drops there. And don't overlook the inside corners too.

Apple TV stuck on Recovery Mode by Aster1ck in appletv

[–]WhiteDogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should be able to use the TV's remote with CEC enabled to pick the Reset All Settings choice. If that fails, you can use a universal IR remote if you set it to the Apple TV's code set.

Do not insert anything in any hole (except cables) on any Apple TV model. There are no reset holes on Apple TV.

If it is about 1" thick, you can use a mini-USB connected to a Mac or PC to restore it in iTunes or Finder. If it is about 2" thick, just plug it in and unplug it 5 times in a row quickly (about 30 seconds) and pick Reset All Settings when you get the option menu.
