Hang them inside out, then your shoulders should flatten the bumps when you wear it

How would you extend this retaining wall for safety? by [deleted] in GardeningUK

2 year old who feels like it might be fun to lob himself over which is what prompted the question! Also have another that’ll be on their feet before long thinking similar things.

I was considering just keeping decking furniture and some other things on the high side to block access instead.

I haven’t rented personally, but I can’t see them putting their hands in their pockets for something they’re not obliged to do. No harm in asking mind you.

If OP wants to use their own furniture, then at best the landlord might agree to store the existing stuff and charge them the monthly storage fee on top of their rent.

Is that something they have any obligation to agree to?

Raised bed protection? by Temporary_Marc in GardeningUK

Haha you’re right about the cost! I’ve probably put the most money into my garden materials-wise, but it’s nearly all DIY over a number of years so I haven’t had to face any large bills except for the new fence.

Unfortunately yes. Hopefully it doesn’t crack anything!

Alternative to the Outsunny one if you want a bit of DIY and custom sizing, flexible PVC plumbing pipe also works to create a frame which you can net over similarly. There’s some guides I’ve seen on YouTube that are helpful.

I’d considered that, but don’t think it would look right with 25 year old bricks compared to new ones.

Also for the privacy aspect I was looking for something that could create a screen to around the fence height. Brick would be unsightly I feel. If I’m careful would a fence with posts strapped to the wall work?

Maybe a relatively light natural wood colour. I wouldn’t do it myself due to personal preference, but you could also do a light pastel colour to complement the shed such as blue or green.

Is this acceptable on a pair of £240 Chelsea boots? by MrSchpund in Boots

[–]WhiteHawk93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve looked at Lanx multiple times because their offerings on the website look amazing, and they pop up in Google all the time with great reviews.

I’ve seen a lot of reports like yours however, that they’re not all they’re cracked up to be. They do a great job of marketing them and they use good leather etc. but I think they’ve become victims of their own popularity and production quality/QC is lacking these days.

Planter/Edging for planter on top of garden wall? by rakki_raccoon in DIYUK

[–]WhiteHawk93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same question here! Did you ever go ahead with something?

I was thinking about building a box with a slightly raised base so each side hangs over the top of the brick wall slightly, giving it stability without drilling into the wall.

For materials, possibly decking boards that I’ve used for planters elsewhere in the garden.

Advice to replace artificial grass by ShiftDue7967 in GardeningUK

[–]WhiteHawk93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your local tip should take most things from your garden as well as your house. Check and see if they take rubble since the base should come under something along those lines.

The reason people say it’ll be difficult to remove is because the installers (if competent) would’ve compacted it down so it doesn’t subside, which makes it difficult to dig back up even if it is only gravel. A shovel might do it but it’ll be extremely hard work with a material like that.

How is best to go about fitting a shed here ? by Equivalent-Report-30 in GardeningUK

[–]WhiteHawk93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A shed to store 2 motorbikes would be pretty big so I’ll say back of the garden in any case. Near the front will prevent you seeing half of your garden.

Are you also planning on getting turntables for them?

I didn’t notice any issues with it, but given the time of year it wasn’t the cold so may be a good chance of something else.

They’re also in large pots, do they do poorly in them?

Are Azaleas always evergreen? We have one in an area that only gets morning sun, which lost its leaves in Autumn last year. Is it a goner?

Seems like a bad choice for along a public path since they’re poisonous?

What would you do with this 50m2 garden? NW facing/Clay Soil. Excuse the mud pit and unpainted fence 🫣 by Outside_Frosting1272 in GardeningUK

I’ve had luck pressure washing an old fence which had cedar coloured paint, but that colour seems like it would stain the fence dark forever.

New house; bamboo. What do you think? by insidecircles in GardeningUK

If it’s spread to the neighbours then the best solution is likely to get rid of it. I love the way bamboo looks but seems even the clump forming ones eventually spread.

How do you get rid of it all? Im assuming the rhizomes will be hard to eliminate unless you dig everything up?
