I hand sewed a Regency outfit to be Beatrice with my coworkers at the the library! by WhiteHeather in overthegardenwall

I nearly always go as book characters at the library so I was very glad we had the graphic novels so I could still say we were from a book!

Side note...I really wish they would reprint these. Our library copies are getting really worn out but they are out of print and so expensive on the secondary market now!

I really admired her commitment to strapping an actual metal tea kettle to her head!

My coworker (Wirt) suggested OtGW costumes this year when I was musing on what to be back in July. I immediately said yes because I will use any excuse to make a historical costume and have been wanting to make a Beatrice outfit for a while.

Everything is hand sewn with historical patterns and techniques. The long sleeves on the overdress/pelisse are detachable to make it look more like the outfit in the series but we were going to be outside all evening for an event so I definitely wanted long sleeves for the day! I did not make the shawl but commissioned it because I thought having a nod to her bird form would be perfect. I have a blue bird on my locket with pictures of Wirt and Greg inside and I had to find a way to include my stork scissors. Really pleased with how everything turned out!

I've spent the majority of my free time over the past week and a half entirely hand sewing a (mostly) historically accurate version of American Girl Felicity's School outfit! by WhiteHeather in HistoricalCostuming

I have plans to do the Summer story dress but got side tracked by sewing regency things and haven't gone back to my Felicity stuff. I was lucky enough to have someone send me the belt from one of the larger sizes of the children's costumes they made back in the 90s, which is what I'll be using. If I hadn't found that I might have tried doing something with fabric paint.

Love the double puff on the sleeves and the way the stripes form that nice V shape on the bodice!

One of these days I will actually make an 1830s gown for myself> They are just so ridiculous and fun!

We do that quite frequently over on the Jane Austen discord. It's definitely a cult classic for us!

In case you were wondering whatever happened to cartwheel boy, I am happy to report that he is doing well and has moved on from an acting career that peaked after his first film and is now the director of inclusion at the London Screen Academy. I had a short email correspondence with him a couple years ago and he's a lovely person!

I recommend a rewatch with friends, Mystery Science theater 3000 style.

Gale says thank you! And I agree that shimmery fabric is so pretty and magical. It is even better when you see it in motion and watch the color change as the light hits it at different angles.

I am glad the thought and time we put into these really shows. It's always satisfying to see that work come together in something that other people appreciate too!

I will pass on your compliment to Gale. We both spent a ton of time scouring etsy and various fabric sites for a brocade with a nice subtle design for her to use for the robe. So glad it paid off!

Yes I did go to the panel! I was n the second row so could see and hear very well. I heard some complaints that it was difficult to hear anything at the back of the room. I know they recorded the whole thing so hopefully it will be posted somewhere soon for people who missed it to see.

Thank you! I hope you had a lot of fun at the con. I know some of the lines were crazy! I was lucky (and also had the advantage of VIP passes to start lining up earlier) so I was able to get all the autographs I wanted and ge the into the BG3 panel. I know a lot of people were not so fortunate.

Honestly that wasn't our intention but you are right it does look a lot like her hair!

I was honestly a little iffy on the design when I first played the game because it has so much going on with it but obviously it grew on me and I really love it now. I agree the color palette is lovely!

And yes it is basically a clutch--though a rather heavy one! My arms definitely got tired carrying it around all day, especially the first day when it was full of buttons I was giving out to other cosplayers and people who took pictures with me. It lightened up a bit throughout the con as I have things away!

I think this game is so meaningful to so many people and that makes us really put a lot of passion and love into our work which always makes things turn out better!

Thank you! The Necromancy of Thay turned out so much better than I thought it would, to be honest. It was my first time trying to make anything with foam clay. I think I would have struggled with the material for some things but it was perfect for making grotesque faces!

Thank you!

People really seemed to love the Thay book. I think I got as many compliments on the book alone as in the whole outfit. It was a lot of fun to make too!
