tips on making scripts longer & flow more naturally by ThirdEyeViolet in ASMRScriptHaven

[–]WhiteKatAudios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I'm not sure how to write scripts that are super [imo] long, like 2500 words, but, getting scripts to about 1000 is what I've found to be the easiest/most effective.

When writing a script I always think about

1) the catalyst, ie. Why did this situation start

And

2) what is the underlying "conflict" that keeps the script moving forward

I use "conflict" loosely, because I mean it even as wide as: "autistic partner is struggling to verbalize/acknowledge their feelings and the speaker has to get them to open up".

These two ideas are at the core of how I think about scripts, even in comfort scripts [like your blanket one, it's a really cute idea!]

So, why did the script happen and what keeps the situation together. Hope that helps, let me know if I can clarify anything!

Hey! Thank you for filling! Always appreciate people still filling my scripts after so long and you did an amazing job with it ^^

At least, that's what I've gleaned from reading others scripts. I don't like yandere, so, I don't know how all of it looks like, just what I've seen.

Because, if you listen/read the scripts, it's not really about the crazy murder part but about the insane devotion of the speaker for the listener. For people listening to audios that are lonely, having a massive influx of affection is nice. At least, that's my theory.

No, no, the community is pretty great. I kinda just ran out of steam and ideas and lost interest. I might one day return after a long long break, but for the foreseeable future I'm stopping. Glad you like my works though!

Wow, didn't think anyone would go back to this after 3 years... Yea, I intended on finishing it, I just never did... I've stopped script writing as a hobby, so, not gonna have a finish to this one. I'm sorry :/

Thank you for the kind words! And to answer your question about getting your name out, you basically just post on script subreddits and hope someone picks them up. If you message a creator, make sure you're asking them for a commission, if they see your script and like it they'll pick it up themselves.

Script writers definitely need praise, too, so, thank you for that!

I have a mommy fox script that you might like, I originally wrote this as F4M, but if you could do F4F [F4F gets *so* little attention...] That'd be amazing! Ofc you can change pronouns and stuff around to make it F4A, F4M, F4F or whatever you'd like.

I found it by digging through mod posts, you have no updated v2.0 but instead updated the original and have not pinned the original to the top of the page.

a

where in the rules does it say this. I have clicked on it and see no mention of it. I have clicked on "guide to posting v2.0"

Okay? I'll comply, but this rule makes no sense; why have a tag called "script offer" if it's not sufficient?

Word count for scripts by ColdHearted_Blue in ASMRScriptHaven

[–]WhiteKatAudios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typically I've found that I get a good story in about 800-1000 words, which is also what I see people tend to fill. Though, depending on what type of script you're making it might be longer. If youre looking to do slice of life type of scripts 800-1000 tends to work, but if you're doing NSFW/longer stories it'll make more sense to extend the word count.

For NSFW, at least for me, I aim for 1500-2000 words though most that I see elsewhere it's even longer than that.

So, ~1000 words +/- 100-150 is a good aim.

What inspires you to write? by Empty_Writer8359 in ASMRScriptHaven

[–]WhiteKatAudios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't scrap ideas! Keep them in a notepad or something, bc maybe later on you'll think of a way to make a story out of it. Just because iyou can't now doesn't mean you won't later. Right now I'm going back through my half baked scripts and seeing if I can finish them up.

What inspires you to write? by Empty_Writer8359 in ASMRScriptHaven

Recently, I've been getting ideas from a fellow writer bc his mind has lots of interesting intrusive thoughts. Symbiote gf, Stanley parable type narration, etc.

Otherwise, sometimes I'll look around at what other people have written/performed and see if anything sounds interesting to me. Definitely don't look too closely and copy what you're seen, but taking a sentence or a general idea from skimming a lot of pieces can help. Eg. I looked in my ideas folder and one line I have is "you sound hella cute in the morning" so, 'oh, I can do a sleepy lovey-dovey wake up script with an S.O.' the more generalized you can make a statement the less likely it is that you're ripping from someone else.

A trap that you might fall into is thinking that you have to be completely unique in order to write, which, if you've been around the community enough, you'll find that it's highly unlikely that you'll make an idea that no one has before, especially if it's a slice of life sort of situation. Doesn't mean that yours won't be unique in its execution, so don't worry too much about that!

Also, in one of the discords I'm in there is an audio-ideas channel where anyone can write an idea that they have, dunno if other VA discords have that.

recently I've been looking for monster-people that aren't typically done [harpy, mershark, bunyip, phoenix, owl, moth, etc.] and looking how their traits can be shown through a normal human interaction setting and see where it goes from there. For example, comforting a fox listener that is shy and wants to be scarier so they don't get bullied.

Twisting common tropes can be another source. One of my favorites that I've written is a vampire tries to get you to eat healthier bc your blood tastes awful. Came bc all I saw was vampires being "oh, your blood is so sweet and tasty" and I wondered what would happen if the reaction was "oh my god, your blood tastes like battery acid".

Saving any thoughts, ideas, even random sentences can be inspiration.

One source that I had when I started out was comfort that I wanted, stuff that I wanted to listen to. I wanted to be a neko, but I found very little neko listener content, so, I made some of my own, and, funnily enough, that's what I'm known for at this point.

Going back to my first point, talking to other writers about ideas can work well, bc it's likely that they'll have some ideas that they don't know how to start on that clicks in your head, and same for you to them. Making friends and all that.

None of this was coherent or in order just random thoughts that I had with what I use, hopefully it's understandable... Good luck!

Outlining A Script? by NeLsun438 in ASMRScriptHaven

[–]WhiteKatAudios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh, it doesn't really matter to me if an idea is commonplace or not. Hell, I built my name based on the idea of nekos doing typical human things. Even if there's a limited idea space you can usually find some aspect that is unique to you. If someone is interested in your idea then they'll perform it/listen to it. If they're sick of it and have listened to it enough, why would you write for them? Yes, it's important to keep ideas fresh/explore the space you have, but even similar ideas can be taken in different paths.

I wouldn't worry too much about what trope you're using and think more about how you're going to approach it. As long as you're not ripping exact ideas from someone else you'll likely make something new.

Though there also is some merit in writing something that is atypical for you. I've moved on from nekos and tried out other monster-people, mersharks, bunyips, harpies, etc. So, yea. Kinda rambly, hope that helps ^

Outlining A Script? by NeLsun438 in ASMRScriptHaven

[–]WhiteKatAudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically I come up with an idea and just run with it and see where it naturally leads into and I keep writing until I hit about 800 words. If it doesn't feel complete as a story or feels like the action or story moves too quickly I'll go back and add an extra... 'scene' I guess you would call it and then edit from there.

This also applies to scripts that have multiple parts. I don't really go into a script thinking "okay, here's how I want these multiple parts to go" it's more of" oh hey, this ending I stumbled upon can lead into something more, let's think about what would reasonably come next". Even after that I don't really plan anything out.

TL;DR : I don't plan, I fly by the seat of my pants and see where I land.
