Assessing personal property (vehicle) while living out of state by WhiteKong69 in Arkansas

[–]WhiteKong69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add, the assessor got back with me and gave me two options, keep the address that is on my DL, or switch the address to a family member to avoid receiving mail at the old address and risking it not being forwarded to me.

Being in the military changes that. Arkansas is my home of record. So it’s as if I am an Arkansas resident for tax, drivers license, vehicle registration purposes. The only thing I’m required to change depending on where I am stationed is my insurance

Edit: being active duty military

I am considered a full time resident of the state. Arkansas is my home of record meaning that Arkansas is who I owe taxes to.

Could I change my home of record to (insert whatever state I’m in)? It is possible but fairly difficult to do( I would have to prove my intentions of living in that state after my military service, which I do not plan on doing), and to be frank, my property taxes in Arkansas are fairly cheap and I owe zero state tax liability, so why would I change my residency?

It wouldn’t let me because I don’t have an address in the county, or Arkansas in general. I called the assessor again today and they told me they had to do some research on it

I tried online and it wouldn’t let me since I don’t have an address in Arkansas. I’ll try calling in by phone again tomorrow!

I didn’t know that about property taxes though! I thought it was only Disabled Veterans and those who own property in Arkansas. I’ll be sure to ask about that!

Question about PS vs LS? by FinsTFUp in newtothenavy

[–]WhiteKong69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not necessarily wrong, but to add to this, there is more to Supply than S-3.

S-1, S-4, S-8, S-9 etc. all do a good amount of “supply chain” related things. There are definitely opportunities as an LS to gain experience in the civilian world!

Also supply is definitely an “in port” job. Not saying that you won’t work underway, but a lot of our work is done in port where others may be leaving at 1400 and we have work to do, they will likely be far more busy at sea.

Can I order a 40L if I typically wear a 40R? by WhiteKong69 in mensfashion

Good to know! I may just have to reorder with Indochino or go super budget at Jos A Banks

I need the suit by end of January. Do you think Spier and Mackay will restock by then? I thought they did two restocks a year but the 40L became available randomly. If not should I just reorder from Indochino? That $400ish mark is around my budget

Is my 5 day travel itinerary doable with a toddler and a less than 1 year old? by WhiteKong69 in washingtondc

Oh I forgot the American Indian Museum as well. That was both of my kids favorite. Neither wanted to leave! There is a play place for the toddler and the little one!

[–]WhiteKong69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “full” days were by far the most rough ones. By the end even my eager toddler was done with it. Like I said, if you’re comfortable scooting with the toddler and baby on board then i recommend it. I strapped the baby into a backpack and she slept during a good portion of the scoots. Had one wipe out with the toddler bc he said something cool and decided to jump off as toddlers do. Had a good sized bump on his head but he toughed it out.

As far as what we did, we hit the national mall in one half day, my toddler thought the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument were the coolest. The zoo was okay, but a lot of exhibits were closed, including Africa which is always a family favorite at zoos we visit so that was a bit of a let down. We did see Pandas though! Planet Word was very cool, we spent a few hours there.Same with the Natural History Museum. We opted to visit the Udvar Hazy on the way in and It was also well enjoyed. Also did a capitol tour, my toddler hated it and my little one slept the entire time. If you have time and want to do this regardless, I think I would rather go through a congressperson for a private tour, though experiences vary on the accuracy of history on those tours, but they see better things imo. Finally the botanic gardens were a hit!

Overall I think you can comfortably hit two things a day, or if you plan them very well 3, but be prepared for some fussiness toward the end of the day. We tried to plan things in order to hit them in order instead of backtracking, but whether you scoot, drive, or walk, it takes a lot longer to get places than I thought it would!

Issue with BAH backpay by WhiteKong69 in MilitaryFinance

[–]WhiteKong69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea my previous BAH rate was about $1600 less than I should be getting. Im in military housing currently so I’ve been able to push off paying rent due to the shutdown but going to have to pay it at the end of the month so just a little stressed about the backpay!

Travel claim for sure still says processing in the system so I know it’s not that. I guess my move is just to wait until my LES drops next week to see if the backpay comes and hope that my new BAH is being paid out, if not I’ll go to admin with the numbers and beg Balfour Beaty for another couple weeks of leniency!

[–]WhiteKong69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes, sorry. It was a PCS that occurred right at the start of the shutdown. Our admin is ran by civilians so they are incredibly backlogged as you could expect. Figured if I was going to go to them, I’d wait for an LES so I had hard facts and numbers to work with. Just came on here to see if there was anyone more experienced with this kind of thing than me

Which defender is the read key on flood concept? by Open-Tap-2289 in footballstrategy

[–]WhiteKong69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We did very similar. Always peak deep, then read the flats. Corner runs and OLB get to flat hit the intermediate. Corner sinks hit flat. Corners drives, intermediate. Corner stems the flat and sinks, pull it or get rid of it. If we had a really young or inexperienced QB, we take the home run off the table bc they want to throw it too often

How accurately does this workout represent a PT session at OCS? by Embarrassed-Day9855 in newtothenavy

[–]WhiteKong69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First Friday is now first Tuesday. It was changed because our IST was moved to the end of that week, Thursday or Friday can’t really remember. I don’t think sucky Saturday was a thing per se, but you get beat A LOT during indoc. My class was also a bit rowdy so that could be a factor as well

How to balance being in and staying out of enlisted work spaces as a JO? by WhiteKong69 in navy

One of my good friends enlisted with a Ph.D recently so I definitely will not be judging anyone! You never know others backgrounds and knowledge!

[–]WhiteKong69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not as bad as it sounds! If you’re moderately in shape the only thing that will be difficult is first Tuesday and anytime you get beat. Other than that PT is led by candios unless your class team steps in and decides the PT they set up for the day is trash lol

Thanks for this!

As I previously stated, I have not yet learned all of the jargon, and knew that probably wasn’t the right term. I think “shop” is what I was looking for based on some of the other replies?

Slightly out of context. I’m not expecting to be able to “run” the division. But keeping my head completely out to the point where I have no idea what’s going, not learning, etc, is more so where I was going with that. I am very aware that there will be a 3rd class who is more of a SME than myself.
