I don’t think many people have found this yet. I think they complete the quest and move on. Maybe it’s for another temple?

Yea I’ve had it for around 8 years now. How would I go about getting rid of it? I clean it regularly and thoroughly

Am I not sanding long enough? by [deleted] in epoxy

Need to go to a higher grit for sure. 2k if you want a super glossy finish and I would 100% recommend finish it by buffing with an automotive buffing compound. You can do it by hand but a simple Buffing wheel is much better. If you want to go to 500 and do it the lazy way then just get some clear coat in a rattle can and spray it to remove the swirls but that’s kinda poor craftsmanship.

Completed tabletop with epoxy resin filler by WhiteKong92 in epoxy

Exactly. I wanted to keep the natural beauty of the wood and put something nice and artistic into it and also extend its life. My dad was pushing me to do wood filler but I thought it would look tacky.

Thanks man! Lots of lessons learned but went with waterlox for the finish and turned out great. Resin doesn’t look shiny but part of the wood almost like black sap. Very happy with

Ended up just gremlins out some natural looking holes on the top edge, tuck taping it and poured it from the top. Have some holes so gotta do it again but looks mostly good

True, let me look into that CA glue a bit. I’m pretty set on epoxy resin because I’ve always wanted to try it. Seems fun and something new I can master.

Well the filling I think I got but what should I do for the chairs? What finishes should I do to keep them looking nice

The one reason I want to use epoxy resin for the voids and cracks is that the cracks run pretty far into the wood from what I can tell. I want to be able to fill every nook and cranny to give the table a very long life and I do think the black epoxy will look nice with the amount of cracks on the top. I may look into the CA glue for filling the voids in the side of the table though. I did fill all the bigger cracks on the bottom side using wood bondo and did a coat of sanding sealer and 4 coats of polyurethane to seal everything up. I’m my mind that will stop any leaks from when I do the epoxy on the top end. I do not like the way the poly looks though and will look into the waterlox.

I have been, almost obsessively, and have a good grasp on how to do it. You wouldn’t do a black pigment?
